It’s almost like a music venue that also sells books. They host a lot of jazz and so many bands play there periodically it’s as if they’re covering shifts. The store is part of a nonprofit that also publishes an annual literary review called Amerarcana that frequently includes Bay Area writers. Fridays they have family-friendly jazz 5:30 to 8:00 and kids get in free. Saturday night they have a jazz club with adult libations. They also have open mic poetry on the first and third Mondays of the month.

This really is a book shop, but they have some fantastic jazz acts there. They put wine out, and ask that you pay with a suggested donation for wine and music. It’s the kind of place where you shouldn’t be talking during the music…people are there to listen. It's a low key, locals experience.
