The interior of this old pub is a must see! Arguably the oldest pub in Australia, The Hope and Anchor Tavern has been a long standing water hole since the old Whopping days. Visit here for a look and a pint after you’ve browsed the Tasmanian Museum. The food is typically pub-like, but we don’t mind a cob loaf to warm the belly. Make sure to wander upstairs… you might spot a ghost.

Upstairs is a hidden secret - the bar's decor is like stepping back in time. Completely different to the decor downstairs, so do go upstairs and take a look. It could be a film set.

very well priced good quality food. Good service. Australias oldest pub traditional Hobart fisherman's drinking hole with loads of atmosphere.open fires etc
