I have been going here literally since the grand opening in 1993. I love it because it’s California cuisine in all its glory: relatively small portions, a lot of really amazing flavors, and it’s not too heavy and combines great food with really classic restaurant design by Pat Kuleto. It’s in a building on the Embarcadero that was built in 1889. They have a private wine room. I had dinner one time with a friend who’s a record producer. He brought Steve Smith, the drummer from Journey. I’m a drummer, too. We all went back into the wine room for an amazing dinner. That’s where I really got to know Steve. We’ve been great friends ever since.
