The grown-up sister restaurant of Mother. The restaurant is located underground, in what was formerly two smaller theaters at the historic Crest Theater downtown. It's elegant and cozy and the food and drinks are amazing.

Mother's naughty sister. Where Mother is hip, fresh and vegetarian--Empress is underground (literally), moody and all about meat. It's also exceptional and is poised to be a Sacramento institution.

Empress Tavern is an amazing find. Its located underneath the old Crest Theater that was originally named the Empress Theater back in 1912. Great atmosphere, Elevated American plates, inventive cocktails & craft beer in a stylish, brick-lined vaulted space. Order the tea service, it's not what you think. Would you like Gin or Whiskey in your tea pot?
