These days the only way to visit is to get a ticket and let the sailors outside the grotta bring you inside in tiny boats.

The Blue Grotto (Italian: Grotta Azzurra) is a sea cave on the coast of the island of Capri, southern Italy. Sunlight passing through an underwater cavity and shining through the seawater creates a blue reflection that illuminates the cavern. The cave extends some 50 metres into the cliff at the surface, and is about 150 metres (490 ft) deep, with a sandy bottom.

During your visit to Capri, one of the obligatory stops must be the Blue Grotto. It is one of the main wonders of the island, characterized by the intense blue color of its waters protected by the rocky wall. Going a little further you will be able to see the ruins of a sanctuary, dating back to the 1st century BC, built by the Emperor Tiberius.
