On the opposite side of the entrance on the right you have the best view in Porto (with the bridges and the city scape). I recommend you go 1 hour before the sunset, visit the garden first and then watch the sunset from the view
Huge gardens where you can see the river from up – a place full of peacocks and ducks (and seagulls) all around. There's an art gallery in the garden (together with a library).
The construction of the Palace began in 1861 and it was inaugurated in 1865 by King D. Luís, its intention was to host the International Exhibition of Porto, which had more than 3,000 exhibitors, and the official visit of the King, Doña Maria Pia and the Heir Prince. In addition to having hosted other different exhibitions, the Palace served as an important cultural space, hosting concerts by great names in classical music. The Crystal Palace gardens were inaugurated in 1860 and retain a very romantic style. They have several elements, such as a lake, fountains, varied flora and even a very modern public library. It is an unmissable tour, whether with family, friends or as a couple. Each garden has a name and a theme, and in each season of the year the garden changes, looking like another. Another highlight is the view of the city and the Douro River.

Inspired by The Cristal Palace in London and surrounded by landscaped gardens, the Palácio de Cristal became a popular place for residents of Porto to visit, even when there were no events in progress. The 360-degree viewpoint that is now open to the public offers a unique perspective of the city, “from Boavista to Marquês, from Ribeira to Foz”, the whole of Porto is there.
