This is an historical building dating back 1244 meant to host town city hall. It is famous because this was a a 23 yrs prison of King Enzo, son of Emperor Frederick of Swabia, who died there in 1272.

The historical prison in town, overlooking Piazza Maggiore! It was built for one prisoner only: King Enzo! Now hosts the Major of Bologna and the main demographics service for the local citizens!

Palazzo Re Enzo is a palace in Bologna, northern Italy. It takes its name from Enzio of Sardinia, Frederick II's son, who was prisoner here from 1249 until his death in 1272. The palace was built between 1244-1246 as an extension of the nearby Palazzo del Podestà, which had proven insufficient for the exigences of the Commune of Bologna. It was therefore initially known as Palatium Novum ("New Palace").

Situato in Piazza Re Enzo, proprio a fianco a Piazza Maggiore e alla Fontana del Nettuno, è stato edificato nel XIII secolo ed ora è un centro congressi. Saltuariamente ospita eventi.
