If it is snorkeling, fishing or whale watching that interests you, just walk 5 minutes to Maalaea Harbor and jump on one the many different boat tours leaving throughout the day. This means a larger lanai than upper units. It also means that when you step off that lanai, you step onto A LOT of grass.
