There is a lovely shop in Broughton (6 miles) , Biggar is 12.5 miles away, Moffat is 16 miles, and Peebles is 17 miles, all with dog-friendly pubs!

Mary Queen of Scot's chamber at Neidpath Castle is perhaps the most romantic place to stay in the Scottish Borders. Explore privately the whole castle and then retire to enjoy your suite rooms. Positioned on the top floor of what was once the White Horse Coaching Inn, built by Laurence Ord in 1624, the loft is entered by the iconic steps seen in so many photos of Edinburgh.
