Our modern, well-equipped home sits right by the sea with breathtaking mountain views, surrounded by pristine Arctic nature. Authentic and romantic lodge originally built of timber and used for the first time back in 1850 as housing for as many as 10 persons. Situated between the sea and the forest and with the northern light as only light in the dark season this might be the perfect place to enjoy North of Norway. The perfect match for a couple, but will also function very well for up to four persons. It is renovated to a modern standard in 2018, with focus on maintaining the heart and soul of the old building.

There is a fold out sleeping couch in the living room. All facilites, towels to firewood are included! A car is needed to get to grøtfjord. The hosts live in a different section of the house.

Cathedral Lodge

This house looks like a little cathedral, and lies only a five minutes walk from the centre of Tromsø. Large windows in the front gives a magnificent view of the city, the sea and the Mountains. The house was finished in 2019. We have choosen exclusive materials and design furniture. You’ll see that it’s made by heart. Helga, the host, lives in the house next door, and is readily available. The apartment is spacious and has an amazing view. You have a 180 degrees view over Tromsø and its surroundings. You can see mountains, the fjord, the Arctic cathedral, the cable car and the mountains surroundings it..The Northern lights can easily be seen from the balconies if it is out dancing for us. The apartment is within town center with its many attractions, restaurants, galleries, cafes, museums and shops. A short walk to everything.

Our house is situated on the appropriately named “whale island” (Kvaløya), just a short 15-20 minute drive to Tromsø city centre and 12 minutes to the airport (9km). This is a perfect location for those searching for a true Arctic experience, as the house is located at the main hub of Kvaløya. Dog and Reindeer sleddings are close by (3km). It is truly is the perfect place to appreciate northern Norway.
