There are other houses around that can be seen . The road can be busy at certain times of day. The house used to be a one room school house in early 1900's.

Take your pup with you to Chateau Morissette winery, just 18 miles away, or relax on one of the porches and watch the deer or fox stroll by.

The Magical Cabin on Back Creek

Built in 1939 as a fishing cabin by a gentleman who incorporated box cars as rafters and beams, dates still visible since removing the attic. By far the best place I've ever lived. I decided to share it with others who love to explore, who love listening to the voice of the creek or who come just to sit on the porch high above the creek with a spouse, friend, family, or alone. Great location just 1/2 mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway at MP 152. Surrounded by open fields, mountain vistas abound. This home has been lived in and gently loved for many years. There is one bedroom downstairs and two upstairs. An extra cot is available. Fully equipped kitchen! Great for families and a long stay. Guests are invited to join us when feeding the farm animals (alpacas, llamas, Highland cattle, Jacob sheep and angora goats) each morning. Fun!

Walnut Hills Farm

Restored 1900 farmhouse with high end finishes with a babbling brook and view of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the front porch. Wedding venue, Appalachia Hills, is next door. Walnut Hills is situated between Rocky Mount and Roanoke offering music and other entertainment at the Harvester and Berglund Centers. Franklin County has scenic roads for cycling enthusiasts with easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Good hiking destinations are nearby.
