Our property on Little Gillett Lake is a special place. The cottage is new, but exudes the charm and character of classic Northwoods Americana. The clear, beautiful lake allows access to Big Gillett Lake and a tributary of the Oconto River by paddle. The Nicolet National Forest offers trails while nearby larger lakes provide beaches and access for motor boats. Swim, paddle, fish, snowshoe, ATV, snowmobile, hike, eat, chill... come enjoy some worry free relaxation or step away for an adventure!

Enjoy the onsite wooded hiking trails, golf across the highway at Ferndale Golf Club, enjoy the SE Mn. biking trail or tube/canoe/kayak the Root River- both only 2 miles away. Nestled in the bluffs of Winona, Minnesota, The Driftless Retreat is a cottage in the valley just one mile from Saint Mary's University and a 10 minute drive to downtown Winona and the Mississippi River. The cottage features a private front and back entrance, large backyard, and woodburning fireplace. Our hope is that The Driftless Retreat is just that, a retreat away from the every day. We believe that every detail matters and take pride in making your time here relaxing and enjoyable.

The place gives you a cabin feel close to La Crosse! 15 minute drive to downtown La Crosse and 3 miles North of Stoddard puts you in a great central location for the area. Mt. La Crosse is super close to enjoy skiing/snowboarding. Goose Island is 5 minutes away. Great spot for bird watching, fishing, kayaking, boat launches, hiking or frisbee golf. Pets are welcome. We offer use of our Canoes, Kayaks and a paddle board free of charge to all guests.

Water skiing and tubing are allowed only on the largest of the lakes, but there are plenty of quiet, no wake hours for fishing or a relaxing boat ride. Included are 2 kayaks, paddle board, and a rowboat with a trolling motor. . .

Activities include canoeing, fishing, hunting, shopping in quaint villages, or just relaxing watching the river... Our cabin is easy to get to and close to area villages but in a private setting.
