“Here you'll find Hot n' Cold. This is a FREE running T section of Natural Hot and Cold water. Here you can sit where it suits you with regards to temperature. The green spot is a bit off on its location. Its just before or after - depending what way you entered the loop road - Wai-o-Tapu under the single land bridge. You'll see it! Get into your swim wear, take a towel and your car keys and leave your valuables in the car and lock. Jewellery will discolour with the sulphur but you can get these cleaned at any jeweller. ”

“This is the site where in the late 1800 a village was covered with volcanic ash after the Mt Tarawera eruption. There is a walk down a waterfall that leads to Lake Tarawera landing.”

“Hell's Gate is unique, there is an optional geothermal walk but most people go there to give the unique mud bath a go which is so much fun, although timed for 20-minutes you do get to move into the sulphur spa afterwards for an unlimited time. Be aware that afterwards, special care needs to be had with your swimwear. We recommend soaking in ammonia and can supply this for you, which neutralises the sulphur smells out of your clothes. Then you launder as usual.”
