This is the Inn's fancier restaurant, but we like to go here for lunch because the prices are comparable to any other place in town and the menu, service and ambiance are wonderful! Make sure to visit the game room of the Inn downstairs (past the gift shop, beneath the Tavern (which we also love). You can also order a cocktail from the bar in the evening and enjoy it in the game room! Or in front of the roaring fire in the lobby in the Winter. This is our favorite date place.

Entertainment & Activities

Make sure you watch the 18 minute documentary on Woodstock while there ("A Place in the Land"). A visit to the farm manager's restored house is worth a visit. This is also where we park to access the trailheads up Mt Tom across Rte. 12.

Parks & Nature

Our two favorite hikes are the one to the Pogue (a pond that used to supply the farm below via gravity) and the Faulkner. The Pogue is spectacular during foliage season. The Faulkner is nice because it gets you to the top, but was modeled after the spas in Baden Baden and has a gentle incline because of the switchbacks. It's a great hike for all abilities.

Access to Mt Peg is right behind our house! Exit the driveway and head up the steep Charles St as it curves to the left and becomes Atwood. The first right is Thomas St. - take that and it will dead end into the access road to Mt. Peg (there will be a chain across to prevent cars and a sign that says "No Dumping"). We highly recommend hiking to the Overlook at the top for stunning views of the valley below. You can also see Killington to the East and preview the snow situation.

Shopping

This is a higher end grocery store, with great prepared foods and lots of local and Vermont-made products that make great gifts and souvenirs. They also have a sandwich and soup counter.
