Relax in a cabana between dips in the sea; top up your tan during a game of beach volleyball; take to the waves on a jetski or wakeboard; or browse the waterside markets. Stroll Dubai Marina
Lining the main waterway are broad boulevards ideal for a scenic walk or invigorating jog. Make a loop along the coast, past the marina spotting superyachts berthed at Dubai’s International Marine Club, passing sunbathers on the sands towards Zero Gravity Beach Club, where skydivers and parachutists add a dash of contrasting colour to blue skies. Alternatively, pick up a bicycle and glide along the cosmopolitan canalside and along The Walk, as every bridge and path have a dedicated lane for two-wheeled explorers.
See the tallest block
You don’t have to be a lover of modern architecture to appreciate the magnificence of what’s colloquially known as ‘the tallest block’. The tallest block of skyscrapers in the world, each of the buildings here measures over 300m, from the Princess Tower - 414m - to the comparatively small Cayan Tower, at 310m. These are residential blocks and therefore inaccessible, but it’s worth taking a camera to appreciate the sheer scale of this record-breaking, glass-encased development from below.
Shop at Dubai Marina Mall
Set across four floors, Dubai Marina Mall is fairly modest by Dubai’s own palatial standards, yet the range of stores on offer won’t disappoint. In the cool of its marbled halls, discover haute couture and high street fashion, organic beauty brands and bespoke jewellers, as well as waterside cafes, restaurants and the 6-screen Reel Cinemas, a popular place to see the latest Hollywood hits.
Take a sunset cruise
Step aboard a luxury boat and take in the stunning sight of the sun sinking as you glide along Marina Canal and through Palm Lagoon. Designed by Pritzker-prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Louvre Abu Dhabi encompasses 9,200 square metres of galleries, including a Permanent Gallery and a Temporary Gallery enriched by loans from notable French museums including Musee du Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, and Centre Pompidou.
Clearly showcasing the juxtaposition of different civilisations in the same space, the Louvre Abu Dhabi illustrates similarities and exchanges from the shared human experience, going beyond geography, nationality, and history.
A symphony in concrete, water and the subtle play of reflected light, the incredible structure was inspired by the region’s rich architectural traditions and the museum’s unique location, where the Arabian sky meets the sands of Saadiyat Island and the waters of the Arabian Gulf. Considered one of the modern urban wonders of the world, Louvre Abu Dhabi is not only the Arab world’s first universal museum but also a powerful symbol of the United Arab Emirates’ ambition and achievement.
The centrepiece of Nouvel’s vision is a huge silvery dome that appears to float above the museum-city. Despite its apparent weightlessness, the dome weighs around 7,500 tons. That’s about the same as the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Inspired by the cupola, a distinctive feature in Arabic architecture, Nouvel’s dome is a complex, geometric structure composed of 7,850 stars. These stars are repeated at various sizes and angles in eight different layers. As the sun passes above, its light filters through the perforations in the dome, creating an enchanting effect within the museum, known as the ‘rain of light'. The iconic Louvre Abu Dhabi is the first universal museum in the Arab World, translating and fostering the spirit of openness between cultures. Designed by Pritzker-prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the Louvre Abu Dhabi encompasses 9,200 square metres of galleries, including a Permanent Gallery and a Temporary Gallery enriched by loans from notable French museums including Musee du Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, and Centre Pompidou.
Clearly showcasing the juxtaposition of different civilisations in the same space, the Louvre Abu Dhabi illustrates similarities and exchanges from the shared human experience, going beyond geography, nationality, and history.
A symphony in concrete, water and the subtle play of reflected light, the incredible structure was inspired by the region’s rich architectural traditions and the museum’s unique location, where the Arabian sky meets the sands of Saadiyat Island and the waters of the Arabian Gulf. Considered one of the modern urban wonders of the world, Louvre Abu Dhabi is not only the Arab world’s first universal museum but also a powerful symbol of the United Arab Emirates’ ambition and achievement.
The centrepiece of Nouvel’s vision is a huge silvery dome that appears to float above the museum-city. Despite its apparent weightlessness, the dome weighs around 7,500 tons. That’s about the same as the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Inspired by the cupola, a distinctive feature in Arabic architecture, Nouvel’s dome is a complex, geometric structure composed of 7,850 stars. These stars are repeated at various sizes and angles in eight different layers. As the sun passes above, its light filters through the perforations in the dome, creating an enchanting effect within the museum, known as the ‘rain of light'. It is located on Yas Island near Ferrari World and Yas Waterpark and is the third Warner Bros. amusement park to be built after the ones at Oxenford and Bottrop. The theme park is divided into 6 immersive theme areas which are Gotham City and Metropolis (mimics fictional sets of DC characters like Spiderman and Batman), Cartoon Junction and Dynamite Gulch (full of cartoon libraries of Looney tunes and Hanna Barbera), Bedrock (themed around Flintstones) and Warner Bros. Plaza (designed to showcase Hollywood of olden days).
