Eastie is up and coming. It is a relatively safe neighborhood. As a single woman I feel safe at all times, I've even gone out for a walk to the convenient store or the waterfront at 1 am. I never felt unsafe. However people have different risk tolerance. Do so at your own discretion.

Use Public Transit or a rideshare(lyft) is your best option
If you are going places using the MBTA and/or lyft/uber is the best mode of transportation. This is dependent on the areas you are going to in the area. Parking can be hard to find and often times parking garages can be more expensive than the uber/lyft and driving can take longer than taking public transit.

TRANSIT TO AND FROM AIRPORT & SOUTH STATION
From the Airport you can Uber or take public transit which take 20 - 30 minutes.
With public transit you take the FREE blueline bus 66 shuttle from Logan airport towards the Airport blueline stop. You can then walk 15-20 minutes to my house or buy a charlie card. It will be about 2.40 as a one way trip. It takes about 2 minutes to get to Wood Island.

Parking warning
Park at your own discretion. Read street signs. Overnight parking isn’t available. I recommend looking up the airport parking garages(closest parking garages I’m aware of) They run 40-80 dollars a nite.
