Sightseeing
These are some of the fantastic things to see and do in the Colorado Springs area. All of these (except Pikes Peak - 30 minutes to the gate, a couple of hours up) are within 30 minutes of the house, a lot are much closer!
Great access for hiking in the front range. Seven falls when frozen gets lit up and is magical to visit in the evening. It is a little expensive but well worth the visit if you've never been. Get some hot cider in the general store, ride an elevator to a viewing platform, or hike the stairs up the falls to get various vantage points for awesome pictures.

Local 5 star resort with several good restaurants, a bowling alley, beautiful grounds, 3 world-class golf courses, and lakes. Especially wonderful during the Christmas season with gingerbread creations in the lobby and Christmas lights!

A wonderful park with lots of hiking trails only minutes from the house (just head west on Dublin, the road practically ends at the park). Take a short but rigorous hike to the top of the rock formation for some of the best views of the city!

So we might be biased just a bit, but after having visited many zoos across the nation it's hard to find one that beats our local zoo! It probably most resembles the San Diego Zoo in our opinion. What does this zoo have that the others don't? Unbelievable views!!!

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Set on one of the most pristine and beautiful tracts of land the Air Force Academy is a great place to visit for multiple things such as college sporting events, soccer tournaments, the planetarium, the Cadet Chapel (currently closed for remodeling), golf course (military ID required), and the Visitor's Center where you can learn the history of the Air Force. To top it all off, there are also a ton of hiking and mountain biking trails and breath-taking views!

United States Air Force Academy

At the top a new visitor center is currently being built (you can only take a shuttle bus to the top right now). While Colorado Springs has a plethora of places to see great views, this is clearly the highest!!! There is a small cost to take the highway to the top. There is also a visitor/rest stop about 3/4 of the way to the top with more great views and a large parking lot. You can embark on your back-country skiing trip from here (experts only with permit), rest, get a snack, or take some small hikes. A crazier thing you can do is ride a bike down the mountain!!!!

Drive the highest paved highway in the US to the top of a 14er! Or you can take the Cog Railway, or you can take the 13.1 mile Barr Trail to the top of the mountain! At the top a new visitor center is currently being built (you can only take a shuttle bus to the top right now). Cave of the Winds is a natural cave system roughly 15 to 20 minutes from the house. They offer several different types of tours, from handicap accessible, wine tour, to more technical tours.

For the best stair workout you have to hike the Incline! Roughly a mile straight up, over 4000 steps! The views from the top are un-matched, and if you are a serious hiker, continue from the top of the incline to the TOP of Pikes Peak! Only another 12 miles to go! (One way) The Barr Trail goes to the top of the mountain, it's a 26.2 mile round-trip hike, and if you are in good shape, you should be able to do it in 12-14 hours.

This is a landmark restaurant by the Broadmoor. After eating take a walk around the Broadmoor and enjoy the views! Great food at reasonable prices.
