Sightseeing

A 30 minute walk (or 15 by bus) takes you into the city centre of Edinburgh - the entirety of which is a designated UNESCO world heritage site. The Castle is an obvious highlight but there is much more to see. I would recommend taking a walking tour from outside St Giles cathedral to orientate yourself. All the National and City run museums (which are free to get into) are located in this area - which comprises the old medieval town and the 'new' town to the south (which developed in the late 1700s) after the union with England.
