Welcome to our first site in London, the original: Elephant and Castle. We opened our doors in 2016, and we are proudly London’s First Sustainable Community Market. Housed in a formerly abandoned paper factory site, we have built and developed one of the city’s largest undercover outdoor areas showcasing a vibrant space where everyone, of any age, can come together and enjoy authentic food together.
With over 40 independent trading partners, we are pleased to serve an eclectic array of natural, nutritious, accessible food and drink alongside an on-site micro-brewery, hidden music theatre and various community events and projects.
MM’s values of community, quality and social responsibility are maintained throughout every touchpoint of the site; from the recycled materials to the no-frills layout. It’s entirely based on a sustainable economic model that is socially responsible and an asset to the local community.

It's only 45 min walk from my flat or a few min by bus.

Maltby Street Market has been hidden away in a tangle of streets between London Bridge and Bermondsey stations, and sheltered next to the mainline railway to London Bridge. The market is centred on a central alley known as the Ropewalk, and I defy anyone to walk down it without their stomach rumbling. It’s sort of a foodie gauntlet, in which temptation lies on either side just waiting to ensnare you.

Maltby Street Marked
Maltby StreetMaltby Street Market has been hidden away in a tangle of streets between London Bridge and Bermondsey stations, and sheltered next to the mainline railway to London Bridge. The market is centred on a central alley known as the Ropewalk, and I defy anyone to walk down it without their stomach rumbling. It’s sort of a foodie gauntlet, in which temptation lies on either side just waiting to ensnare you.

Good old Berm, with its working-class roots, its foodie rep and its penchant for craft beer in railway arches and high-proof cocktails in Victorian basements. In earlier centuries, Bermondsey was big on food production (being near the Thames, where the imports came in) as well as leatherwork and tanning. Now on Bermondsey Street you’re more likely to find pitted olives, media types, design studios and street art. The swanky, glass-fronted destination restaurants are as big a draw as the street’s booming drinks micro-scene, which spills into boozy brunches on mornings after.
