Food Scene

Homer is the current darling of the Seattle foodie scene. I wish I could eat there- but there are lines out the door even during the winter! Friends have told me it's amazing!
authentic french pastries-the best in town! Their pear danish thing is out of this world, as well as their croissants, they also have items with a japanese twist, like green tea shortbread cookies (after 5:00pm everything is half off)

This area was settled by Italians, and was called The Garlic Gulch. This is a great little deli, bakery, grocery, coffee shop, specializing in european items, some hard to find. They also have frozen meatballs that are yum. It's old school here with old timers having coffee......

After a day of checking out the Pike Place market, stop in here for cocktails and dinner. Sit out on the patio if it's nice, or inside to catch some live music. It's decoration is kind of fanciful, whimsical baroque- it's wonderful. It's a Seattle institution!

http://www.cookweaver.com/tale-of-tsar-saltan/ Incredible murals in this historic building....We feel grateful to be making our home in the historic Loveless Building– originally called the Studio Building, designed by Arthur L. Loveless (1873-1971) & built in 1930 as a place for Seattle artists to live and work. In 1931, the Russian Samovar (the original tenant of the space we occupy) commissioned the muralist Vladimir Shkurkin to paint the murals we enjoy to this day– depicting the story of a tsar, three sisters & of course, a swan-turned-princess.

Now a coffeeshop, worth a visit......The internment had an especially large impact in Seattle’s Japantown, where Japanese-Americans, many of them US-born citizens, were forced to abandon their homes and businesses almost overnight. Before they were led away to the camps, some stashed their belongings in the basement of the Panama Hotel for safekeeping. At the time, the hotel served as communal gathering place, guest house, and sento (Japanese-style bath house). Amazingly, many of those trunks and suitcases are still there and on view, waiting for owners that never came back.

BEST japanese restaurant. This restaurant is, quite literally, one of Seattle’s hidden gems. It’s just down the hill from the ID's historic Panama Hotel Tea House, which is worth a visit on its own, but even given that clue, there’s no sign, no website (although Google can help), and you probably won’t find it without being brought there once. It is like a modern day version of Robin Hood’s hideout, albeit one that serves excellent sushi, tempura, chirashi, and a lunch combo that features a mini katsudon and a mini tanaki udon. Happy hunting! (from the Stranger)

The pizza oven was flown in from Italy! The pizza is great, but I really like the daily appetizer specials. They have a bar with good cocktails too.....from the Stranger..."This convivial neighborhood pizzeria is perpetually packed with Beacon Hill locals getting their wood-fired pizza fix. (If there’s a wait, avail yourself of one of the bar’s excellent Negronis.) Those blistering pies are indeed delicious, but the Italian small plates, such as grilled octopus or burrata with rapini, are what gives this place the edge. The specials board is always a knockout: A recent visit yielded a mouthwatering potato pizza topped with a sheaf of Prosciutto di Parma, as well as the unbeatable"....

My second favorite organic store, it's closer than Central Coop. This store is new and is quite fancy and fun to shop in. There are lots of prepared foods, but avoid the taco bar, it looks tasty, but it is not delicious. I do like their kale salad with artichoke hearts. More than a museum, The Wing is an experience. Step back in time into the living quarters of Asian pioneers and learn how they shaped Seattle. Check out exhibitions of real life stories, including Day in the Life of Bruce Lee, detailing the personal habits of global icon Bruce Lee and his local connection. And plan for a tour of the Chinatown-International District neighborhood - Seattle’s second Chinatown location – to get an insider look at its history, sights and foods. A must-do for anyone who wants the local experience.

Seattle's world famous radio station KEXP has a cool new home with a coffee shop inside, a fun place to hang! The La Marzocco café and showroom is located within a new community arts destination on the Seattle Center campus: KEXP’s New Home. In a city that is known for both coffee and music, the opportunity to collocate with an iconic music-oriented arts organization was a natural fit. Hosting more than 500 live performances each year, visitors to KEXP will have the opportunity to explore and discover both coffee, and music – all within the same place.

Sightseeing

This is a must do in Seattle! Do not miss this please :) It is the best thing about Seattle, wonderful, big market, where farmers come to bring their harvest. It's a bit of a labyrinth once you start going down into it, then it becomes shops selling interesting things, some have been there forever, some are new. You could spend all day here, but at least half a day. The original Starbucks is here. Whenever I swing through, I get a hum bow at Mee Sum Pastry, I like the BBQ pork one and the curried chicken. There is one that has crumbled almond cookies on top! Have lunch at Lowell's and dinner at the Pink Door.
