I’ll share secrets and techniques around bonsai that will inspire you to continue practicing even after you leave. • Begin by choosing from seasonal plants like cherry blossoms, evergreens, or foliage bonsai, each reflecting nature’s beauty. You’ll also select your pot, and hear an introduction to the art of bonsai and its cultural significance. • Learn the importance of soil in bonsai cultivation and consider concepts of natural balance as you clean the plant, position it, and then plant it into the soil. • Enhance your bonsai with moss, stones, decorative sand, driftwood, or aged wood to bring your miniature landscape to life before considering a different base and taking photographs of the finished result. Because bonsai cannot be taken outside of Japan, we’ll give you a very special round bonsai pot and scissors that were crafted in the Tsubame-Sanjo. This will allow you to continue your bonsai journey even after you return home.

Join me, a longtime mural preservationist, as I reveal the stories behind the eye-popping street art in two of Tokyo’s trendiest neighborhoods: Shibuya and Harajuku. • In between spotting graffiti tags and admiring massive murals, we’ll duck into secret alleyways, abandoned buildings, and underground spots that are only known by locals. • For daytime sessions, we’ll also stop by galleries and view current art exhibitions (when available). We will meet and start at the busiest train station in the world, Shinjuku station east exit. Then we will walk to the atmospheric alleyways of Omoideyokocho, where we can see a plethora of small Japanese izakayas that mostly offers yakitori or chicken skewers. Then next we will walk to the Kabukicho area, This entertainment district is filled with bright lights, bars, restaurants, and pachinko parlors as well as touts and hustlers. This place is also where you can find the famous Godzilla road and then from there, we will go to the Golden Gai, which is a collection of mismatched tumbledown bars lining alleyways. After this, (IF TIME PERMITS) We can also move to Shibuya, via the JR Yamanote line train and show you the young and vibrant visual of Tokyo. In daytime, we can detour to one of Tokyo’s most popular parks, the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. The park's spacious lawns, meandering walking paths, and tranquil scenery provide a relaxing escape from the busy urban center around it. (Park’s entrance fee not included) The tour is going to be approx. 2 hours. All of these while I take some candid and posed photos of you.
