Beautiful location, lovely self-catering home and great hosts! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed spending the last few days of 2015 meetings locals at the pub and picturesque walks. Thanks again and happy 2016! All the best!

This was a lovely little place up on a hill, with a fantastic view from the living room. The place was warm and very clean, and a short drive to Abergavenny town. There are also some good pubs and restaurants within a mile or two. We stayed for 2 nights. Sandra and her husband, who live next door were also really friendly and welcoming. Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely look to stay at their place again.

The accommodation is lovely, the hosts so friendly and welcoming; all in all a fantastic place and will certainly visit again. The view from the sofa was so incredible it was hardly worth even considering putting the TV on. Immediately on arrival Sandra managed to wrangle us rare free table at the local pub (The Crown) which served some of the nicest food I have eaten out in ages. The local real ales were excellent too. The self contained apartment is spotless and perfectly located for hikes; in fact the start of the walk up Sugar Loaf (also one of the best bits) starts at the gate 5-10 meters from the front door. A friend and I stayed for two days and in addition to the hike, went cycling along side the canal, again the bike hire place was recommended by Sandra, was only a 10 min drive away and was superb. A thoroughly fantastic little trip all round.

Lot of space. Sorrounded by green. Direct mountains view. Squirrels, rabbits, birds, donkeys. And lovely Sandra and Chris, who helped us much more than required. Like being at home. Everything as described. Clean. The directions given by Sandra where accurate. It's two minutes driving from Abergavenny centre. Pun is Fun. Thanks! (and not just for the Wellies)

This is an absolutely amazing place! It is very close to Abergavenny, just a few minutes' drive, but is still secluded enough to give you a very countryside feel. The view from the living room, as is obvious in the pictures, is special. The apartment has everything you could need for a short stay and Sandra and her husband could not have made us feel more welcome. They were on hand to help out with whatever we needed, suggesting walks, bike hire places and even restaurants! There's an amazing walk up a trail from just behind the house, and the bike hire place is a ten minute drive away. Eat at the Hardwick, if you're in the mood for some stunning food!

Sandra was very helpful and easy to communicate with, the accommodation itself is very pleasant and in a lovely location with superb views. Fully recommend a trip to the Walnut Tree restuarant.

This is a lovely apartment - just as the photos show. But we were in for several pleasent surprises though - Welsh cakes, bread, butter, eggs, milk, emergency toothbrushes, lots of towels, flowers in the living room - All left there for us. Alan made us feel very welcome - his tips on where to go, and the comments he made about the industrial revolution, peaked our interest - we ended up seeing a lot and learning a bit as well over the next three days. We loved staying here. Will be back.

A fabulous apartment in a lovely location, with a really pleasant walk into town. Everything you could possibly want - we could happily have stayed much longer as there's so much to do in Abergavenny and it's such a lovely place.

Arrived on a Friday night, directions provided by Leann where perfect - found the place very easily. When arrived to the flat, heat was on (THANKS!!!), everything was super clean. Spend 2 nights, well rested, super comfy!

The flat is very lovely and spacious, everything the pictures describe. It's (very) well heated and clean, and Leann had left a bottle of Cava for us which was lovely. The location is beautiful and the views are fantastic, but we did find it very difficult to locate! The postcode is the best thing too use, but it's a bit further down the road than (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) suggests. Leann responded to our call very quickly and clarified for us. Overall a lovely stay and Leann is an excellent host. Thanks!

Great studio apartment surrounded by beautiful Welsh countryside. The apartment was as it appeared from the pictures. Everything was great, though wi-fi access from the main property could be improved as it kept dropping. The apartment was very nicely decorated and finished to a high standard!

Great place, host Leann will provide you will almost everything you need!! Her home is located in a stunning area , lots of little villages around , beautiful nature. She even left bottle of wine and some Welsh cakes , what a lovely treat! And I like the fact that it was very private, quiet. I definitely recommend this lovely home for everyone!! :)

The place was amazing little hideaway for some peace and quiet.. communication was easy with Leann and it was totally private. The place was clean and tidy when we got there and found all the amenities there. A lovely little place for anyone who wants to enjoy some quiet quality time.

Had a lovely trip-everything exactly as advertised. In the middle of nowhere surrounded by stunning scenery. We received a really warm welcome from Elizabeth's daughter and felt right at home. We will definitely be visiting again.

I spent two nights in this house. Everything was perfect. We have a lovely welcome by Liz who prepared for us some tea with welsh cakes. The house was tidy and clean and the views were amazing. A car is needed but there are a lot of beautiful locations close by. I definitely recommend this location for people who wants to disconnect from the big cities.

Absolutely fantastic stay - we were SO lucky with the weather - 32, 30 and about 27 degrees! Lovely little patio outside with table and chairs which all meals (including breakfast!) were eaten at. Beautiful walks so close by, seclusion was delightful not a hinderance. New to renting places so didn't think to bring things like cling film but thats our own fault, everything else provided, cute personal soaps, milk and Welsh cakes upon arrival - definitely recommend to anyone. Liz was lovely - very friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for making me fall in love with Wales!!! P.s you should bring a car you don't mind going down tight roads ... my partner didn't and was worried about scratches haha.

Sally and Gary were great to deal with and allowed us to change our travel plans without any hassles. The accomadation was beautifully presented and clean. It was nice and private and included all the features for a comfortable stay. Right in the middle of Grosmont village but also nice and quiet. Beautiful, comfy flat. Excellent walking and cycling routes really close by and a lovely pub just across the road. We had a lovely relaxing time and would highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay in Sally's studio apartment. V welcoming,attractive, comfy and clean, with everything we needed and more. Grosmont is very friendly with a great pub, and stunning countryside - lots of good walking and cycling.

I can't speak highly enough of my experience staying at Sally's place. I was very disorganised as to my arrival time, but Sally (and family) were very accommodating and never gave me the impression I was being annoying! The apartment was absolutely lovely - I just wished I'd had more time to spend there. The welcome from Sally's husband and daughter (and email exchanges with Sally) were all very warm - I felt very well looked after. Sally's husband even very kindly gave me a lift the following morning to meet up with my lift home. I definitely recommend staying here. Oh, and the much talked about Welsh cakes were a perfect post-party breakfast!

We were keen for a relaxing country escape, and couldn't have been more delighted by our stay in Sally's lovely studio flat in Grosmont. Initial communications with Sally were cordial and inviting, and the prevailing sense of harmony and calm that we discovered on arrival set us up for a truly restorative weekend in a beautiful part of the country. We felt immediately at home, comfortable and cozy in the spacious, light-filled studio - even under changeable skies! - and only wish we could have had more time to explore the area. We were pleased to discover Kilpeck, and enjoyed a leisurely browsing visit to Hay-on-Wye. We would happily return, smitten by this corner of Monmouthshire, and by the haven of Sally's charming flat. Highly, and warmly, recommended!

The studio is wonderful, has everything needed plus. The bed is one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in away from home. It was clean, tidy and had lovely little touches like treats for our dog and home made treats for us (Welsh Cakes) which were sensational. Sally and Gary were brilliant hosts and went over and above to help us and ensure we were looked after. There is a heap of info books/pamphlets in the accommodation too, so much to do. It is about an hour from Pen-Y-Fan (Brecon Beacons): 30 mins from Crickhowell ... all very easy reach and beautiful driving countryside. There is a pub literally across the road, great landlord/landlady there too ... everywhere we went, people were just so friendly. Would love to return .. amazing place, great holiday break.

Sally and Gary and Lara are literally the nicest people in the whole wide world we only stayed one night for a wedding but they sorted accommodation for a friend, gave us a lift down to the church AND get this - a ride back at 1am from the reception which I have to say was pretty much a blur. Apologies for the state we may have left the place in it was a very quick getaway the following morning for a flight to catch! But honestly, amazing hospitality and the Welsh cakes were excellent for the road. Thank you so so much and the countryside is beautiful we will be back!

After a long day at the Hay Festival on what was quite possibly the hottest day of the year my boyfriend and I headed to The Studio. After getting a little bit lost on the way we phoned Jane who gave us detailed directions. When we arrived at the studio Jane was there to meet us at the door to welcome us and show us where to park. The location of the property provides outstanding views of the surrounding countryside where we were lucky enough to see a couple of birds of prey, wild rabbits, a variety of birds and the local farm animals. We also had a visit from a very affectionate ginger cat who came in for a fuss then went on their merry way. The studio itself is immaculate, beautifully decorated and well equipped. There is a small kitchenette with a sink, toaster, kettle (with tea, coffee, milk and sugar) and equipment enough to make some basic food. The living area is very cosy with a low level bed with ample pillows and blankets to make a very cosy place to sleep. There is also a large selection of books to read, a TV with VHS and DVD player (although we didn't use it) and a table and chairs to relax on. The bathroom is very well finished with quite possibly the best shower I have ever used. The water pressure is insane! Towels are also provided as well as a bath robe should you need it. Externally, there is a small seating area which overlooks the gorgeous countryside views, comprising of a table and two chairs. There is also a light outside should you wish to sit outside after the sun goes down. For an additional £5 per person Jane can supply a delicious continental breakfast for you. This consisted of, warm bread rolls and assorted pastries, butter and jam, Greek yogurt, granola, fresh fruit and fruit compotes, all delivered to your door at a time of your choosing in an adorable picnic basket. Overall our stay was wonderful. The location is ideal, tranquil and secluded, but also only about 40 minutes from Hay-on-Wye, so it is ideal for anyone wishing to attend the Hay Festival. Jane was a pleasure to meet and gave us a thorough tour of the property and was only a phone call away when we couldn't locate the cutlery drawer (there is a secret drawer in the table) but also allowed us to enjoy our stay without interruption. If we are planning a trip up to this part of Wales again we won't hesitate to book to stay here again.

Quiet and cosy base to explore the southern Wales. Mike and Mal are good communicators and very knowledgeable about the area. They provided us with a nice basket of fresh fruit, plenty of breakfast food and even fresh lettuce and tomatoes. Highly recommended.

Mike and Mal were extremely welcoming and helpful, and the room was so comfortable and a really relaxing place to come back to at the end of the day. Plus, the breakfast supplies were great! I was only in the area for a couple of days for the food festival in Abergavenny, but I would have loved to stay longer to explore the area further. I would gladly stay again if I make my way back to Wales in the future!

Mike was very welcoming and the little extras like home made jam made it that more homely. The apartment was clean and spacious with a gas fire for chilly nights. It's right on the canal for some lovely walks, and very well placed for all the Brecon Beacons has to offer. We would definitely recommend it.

Host Mike was welcoming and informative. The area was very limited for decent pubs/eateries so had to drive to Crickhowell which was not ideal. Took the offer of a lift from Mike's son in law which was decent of him as he is a long distance driver.

Mike and his family have already surprised me upon arrival. I found a filled with wonderful things refrigerator and even a large bowl of fruit. What a nice reception. When the property is - as described - a very nice annex with private entrance, bathroom, a fireplace and lots of books / nformation about the environment. In addition, Mike offered further assistance at any time. The surrounding area is picturesque, especially the canal with its houseboats and the mountains beyond. For nature lovers to recommend particular very.

Mike und Mal Platz war fast der Star der Show, während unsere Osterpause. Es war so schön, wieder am Ende des Tages kommen, was effektiv ein privates Ferienhaus. Es ist eine sehr komfortable, neu und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, geräumige Zimmer mit eigenen Nassraum-Dusche und eigenem Eingang. Wir mögen die Fähigkeit, unsere eigenen Lebensmittel zu machen, so der Mini-Kühlschrank, Mikrowelle und Wasserkocher waren von unschätzbarem Wert. Es war warm, aber trotzdem an den kälteren Abenden war es wirklich schön und gemütlich, um die Erwärmung mit der Gasfeuer steigern. Das Haus liegt direkt an einem Kanal gelegen, so dass ein sehr schöner Spaziergang ist buchstäblich vor der Haustür, und es ist schnell auf den Hauptstraßen zu bekommen, um andere Teile der Brecon Beacons gehen (in der Nähe empfohlen Attraktionen sind Big Pit Kohlebergwerk-Museum und Raglan Schloss, aber Tal-y-bont Reservoir und auch die nationalen Schauhöhlen erreichbar). Mike und Mal waren schön, freundliche Gastgeber, nur wirklich, dass Sie uns wieder mit Dingen, aber immer zur Hand, wenn wir eine Frage hatten, und um Hallo zu sagen, in der Früh und prüfen, ob alles in Ordnung sei. Sie nachdenklich bereitgestellt verschiedene Dinge in der Küche. Wir fühlten uns willkommen Super, ich nehme an, es war wie in einem Hotel mit deinen Freunden laufen. Wir würden auf jeden Fall empfehlen diese Unterkunft an andere weiter und würde nicht zögern, wieder zu kommen!

A wonderful flat in the heart of the village - tastefully decorated with everything you need to make the flat a home. A welcome pack of local produce was waiting for us on arrival, which was a nice surprise. The beds were incredibly comfortable with a luxurious sheepskin on the floor to step onto when getting out of bed in the morning. Natasha was away while we stayed in the flat but her housekeeper met us to let us into the flat and show us around and to provide a warm and friendly welcome. The flat wasn't booked up for the evening of our departure so they let us keep it until lunchtime, which was handy for having a shower after a morning hike. Definitely recommend Mortimer House and will stay again when I next visit!

WOW! Everything from the location, the accommodation itself, the communication and greetin upon arrival to the welcome basket were all spot-on! This is a very high quality apartment in a lovely town with lots of choice of pubs and restaurants. There is ample parking adjacent to the property and the apartment has just about everything you could ask for. (we enjoyed a DVD on the first night from a great selection - books and games also available!) I honestly cannot think of anything that could have made this any better. We had a great time in the Beacons thanks to the lovely place and great location.

Natasha was a wonderful host, and the Mortimer House was everything we expected and more. The beds were incredibly comfortable, beautifully decorated, and the place was very clean with modern appliances. Crickhowell is something out of a storybook. Great pubs and inns for relaxing and dining. We had a delightful full afternoon tea at The Dragon right next door. Everyone in the village was friendly, and the location was perfect for exploring Wales.

We spent two nights here and it was lovely. Marianne and Kim were very friendly and welcoming and even offered to give us a lift to our restaurant booking. The bed is huge and comfy and the space was modern and clean. Marianne even installed a fridge for us to use and we had an evening picnic amongst the vegetable beds. The coffee machine and biscuits are a nice touch too. Would definitely recommend!

I was looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful to write and found the perfect place. Marianne and Kim were thoughtful and responsive hosts. They had even placed a little desk under the window for me to use while I was there. The room was comfortable and clean, with beautiful views across the fields and of the river that runs next to the house. The weather was stormy and wild during my stay - really atmospheric for writing! Excellent internet and good coffee too. Abergavenny is very close with Waitrose supermarket for supplies, but there are fabulous places to eat nearby too. A highly recommended stay. Thanks Marianne and Kim!

Marianne and her husband are excellent host. I almost felt as if I was a member of their family. The place is extremely clean and many hight star hotels could learn! This is a true a scandinavian place, all natural wood, simple but very practical. Even in a bad weather and without tv you can enjoy a stay- i just wanted to be there! I wish Marian and Kim good luck and I definetely stay there again if I come to this area
