In the summer, there is a tiny garden off the terrace with herbs you are welcome to cook with. We grow whatever the deer don't eat, so you will find green onions, sage, and sometimes rosemary. Sometimes - between deer browsings - there will be a plethora of pink wild roses and black eyed Susans. But usually, there are just the aromatic herbs.
While we share a driveway with our guests, and our home is up the hill, we offer our guests total privacy. If I am able to meet and greet on arrival, I do, otherwise guests let themselves in and make themselves at home. If I am not able to meet on arrival, we likely will not see each other. This happens all the time, even if a guest is there for over a week! If you should ever need us, we are available by phone, text, or email.
We love walking to town along the blue stone sidewalk the Woodstock Volunteers built a few years ago. We like checking out the shops - it seems new ones are popping up all the time (Pacama Handmade is new and great for understated, modern, hand-thrown pottery. Shop Little House has adorable vintage items. And don't miss our independent Golden Notebook for new books.) In the warmer months we get in line at Aba's Falafel at the Farmer's Market, or we eat outside on one of Woodstock's many patios (the Garden Cafe has a great outdoor dining space). In the coldest months, we walk through the snow and treat ourselves to breakfast at Oriole 9.
Guests travel to Woodstock from NYC via car or via Trailways bus and are dropped off in the center of town. It is a 12 minute walk to the Cottage. Or call Woodstock Taxi.
This is a great cottage. There is something about it being so small that makes it very cozy. People always seem very happy, when we check in via email. And our own friends love to stay when it is available. I would just say - in the winter, bring slippers as the floors can be chilly. I have never visited a house in Woodstock without chilly floors and this historic cottage is no different (although we do dress them with thick rugs.)
It’s even more delightful in person! All the amenities are as described. We didn’t have the pleasure of meeting our host, but the cottage was warm and ready for us on a first day of spring that still felt like winter. Sleeping in the loft was so comfortable; waking to birdsong is always lovely. Everything is sparkling clean. The walk to town is an easy 15-20 minutes, and the couch is made for napping. Perhaps best of all is the ukulele.
Lovely, clean, well designed, cozy cottage and was perfect for two!
Jennifer was easy to communicate with and made our stay very effortless. There was even binder full information about Woodstock including local hikes, activities, restaurants, and more left for our use.
This was such a great place to stay! Our experience here was unforgettable. Everything was perfect! Highly recommended. AAA+++
The cottage was cozy, clean, and neatly decorated. It's perfect for two people. It was nice to use the kitchen to make meals. The heat worked well. It was very easy to communicate with Jennifer if anything came up. She was very responsive. The best part was the loft bed and watching the sun rise from the small window up there.
This is an amazing little cabin in an excellent, quiet spot. very clean with everything you need for a weekend escape. I can't wait to go back again soon.
The Woodstock Cottage is the perfect place for a couple to stay while exploring the surrounding area. The location is very convenient and easy to find, just outside of Woodstock. The cottage is offset from the main house and provides ample privacy and is extremely unique and well decorated. During our stay it was very cold outside but the cottage was always warm. Jennifer was a great host, providing all the amenities necessary to make our stay extremely relaxing and comfortable. I definitely recommend the Woodstock Cottage and I hope to visit again soon!
I am a photographer & my husband is an artist and we are based in Woodstock NY. We like to offer people a perfect get-away... not too expensive, with all the necessary amenities, very clean & private, and very cozy. We have tried to create the Woodstock get-away we would want if we were coming to the country to unwind.
