Charming studio cottage in the woods, walking distance to the center of Woodstock, NY. Light-filled cottage is privately set up a tree-lined drive with a stone pathway leading to the front door. Cook in your own kitchen or use the charcoal grill.
The Woodstock Cottage was built by a Woodstock artist 75 years ago, and has been thoughtfully renovated by a local architect.
This is the perfect retreat setting for a writer, musician, artist, or other creative type who is looking for privacy, yet not total seclusion.
Sleeps 1 to 2 people, or a couple or single parent with a child. Cottage has sleeping loft and a brand new (Dec 2014), extremely comfortable sofa-bed.
Year round rates:
$150/night .. $700/week .. $2000/month
Please note there is a 2 night minimum, unless it is very short notice.
Holiday weekends have a 3 night minimum.
In the summer, there is a tiny garden off the terrace with herbs you are welcome to cook with. We grow whatever the deer don't eat, so you will find green onions, sage, and sometimes rosemary. Sometimes - between deer browsings - there will be a plethora of pink wild roses and black eyed Susans. But usually, there are just the aromatic herbs.
While we share a driveway with our guests, and our home is up the hill, we offer our guests total privacy. If I am able to meet and greet on arrival, I do, otherwise guests let themselves in and make themselves at home. If I am not able to meet on arrival, we likely will not see each other. This happens all the time, even if a guest is there for over a week! If you should ever need us, we are available by phone, text, or email.
We love walking to town along the blue stone sidewalk the Woodstock Volunteers built a few years ago. We like checking out the shops - it seems new ones are popping up all the time (Pacama Handmade is new and great for understated, modern, hand-thrown pottery. Shop Little House has adorable vintage items. And don't miss our independent Golden Notebook for new books.) In the warmer months we get in line at Aba's Falafel at the Farmer's Market, or we eat outside on one of Woodstock's many patios (the Garden Cafe has a great outdoor dining space). In the coldest months, we walk through the snow and treat ourselves to breakfast at Oriole 9.
Guests travel to Woodstock from NYC via car or via Trailways bus and are dropped off in the center of town. It is a 12 minute walk to the Cottage. Or call Woodstock Taxi.
This is a great cottage. There is something about it being so small that makes it very cozy. People always seem very happy, when we check in via email. And our own friends love to stay when it is available. I would just say - in the winter, bring slippers as the floors can be chilly. I have never visited a house in Woodstock without chilly floors and this historic cottage is no different (although we do dress them with thick rugs.)
This little "cottage," was ideal for a weekend getaway. Clean, charming, and quaint with all the necessities. My girlfriend and I could not have been more pleased with Jennifer's picturesque home and her and her husband's hospitality.
Additionally, Jennifer was very helpful in providing logistical recommendations for getting around, and was also very accommodating during the check in process.
I would highly suggest this place and these hosts to anyone!
Although I didn't meet Jennifer in person while I was at the cottage, we were in touch by email and she was very friendly and helpful. The place was exactly what I expected - clean, cozy and quiet. There was a binder with suggestions for day trips, restaurants, etc., as well as a TV and DVD player (plus a well-rounded DVD library), and stereo with an aux cord so I was able to hook up my iPhone and play music. Despite being walking distance from downtown, and not terribly far off the main road the cottage feels wonderfully secluded. I'd go back in a heartbeat, and definitely recommend!
Cozy, quaint, and overall a wonderful stay! TIP: if you're not fit & nibble the steep stairs up to the lofted bed can be tricky.
Lovely hideaway in the woods - perfect for a romantic getaway. A big plus is the beautiful original art and color sense lavished on the cottage. Quality kitchen tools for a compact, but serviceable kitchen. Thoughtful details include nice fabric tablecloths, napkins, and linens. Hosts were nearby to handle questions and needs that come up with the rental and were very cordial and prompt with requests. Woodstock itself is a charming artist and alternative lifestyle village populated with creative and friendly folks.
We stayed a month in Jennifer's Cottage. It was an amazing experience. This is the perfect place to get away and rest and relax in very peaceful environments. The house is exactly as described and as you can see in the photos is small and cozy! Perfect for couples.
Its a 20 minutes walk from town which has a lot of good restaurants (the garden cafe, Oriole 9 and Joshuas were our favorites)
The cottage has a great collection of dvd´s, a barbecue and a very cool ukulele.
Jennifer and Chris were very attentive hosts :) And we are hoping to come back!
The Woodstock Cottage was even better in person, extremely well stocked, perfect for anyone wanting to cook and be cozy for a getaway. My mother and I came for a girl's weekend and had plenty of room to stretch out and sew all weekend. We took a few walks around the area and saw many deer, rabbits, it was just lovely. The cottage has a great binder with tips and information that are perfect for someone who didn't do any research on the area or things to do. Highly recommended.
We loved it here. It was secluded, quiet, tranquil and surrounded by nature. The cottage was clean and tidy and our hosts were very flexible when our itinerary changed. So appreciated that!

I am a photographer & my husband is an artist and we are based in Woodstock NY. We like to offer people a perfect get-away... not too expensive, with all the necessary amenities, very clean & private, and very cozy. We have tried to create the Woodstock get-away we would want if we were coming to the country to unwind.
