Bigert Mire Cottage is a traditional stone Lakeland cottage situated in a hamlet in the unspoilt Duddon Valley. It is our weekend home, providing tranquillity and an escape from the bustle of modern life - a superb place to bring friends and relax.
We cannot use it as much at the moment so we have been renting it out and the feedback has been simply amazing :-)
We hope you love it as much as we do. You can see more blog posts about the cottage by searching for "Bigert Mire Cottage"
The cottage originates from circa 1744 and has individual charm and character. The central heating radiators are heated by the wood burning stove, there are also electric radiators in each room.
Please note that the house is not perfect - in particular there are a few areas that need repainting - but it is generally in very good condition and the feedback from guests has been amazing.
Please also note that the hamlet of Bigert Mire is off the beaten track and guests need to drive along some narrow country lanes ( proper public tarmac roads but small ). We think that this is part of its charm but would not suit people wanting to walk across the road to a pub.
If the roads are not passable due to ice or snow in winter ( doesn't happen a lot but it can obviously happen ) we will give you a refund for any affected nights.
