Hi Nikola, I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay in my house but I think your feedback is not fair. I do not lie in the description and therefore I would like to clarify a few things. The house is NOT located in a swamp! The lodge is in a private jungle reserve. You visited the house during the rainy season. It is normal that during the rainy season the paths become muddy and certain parts of the Jungle Reserve flood. Also, mosquitos multiply during that time. Therefore, I recommend to wear long sleeved shirts and long pants, a hat and rubber boots. This protects you from the mosquitos and mud and you can have a great time exploring the jungle. During the rainy season people staying in other lodges inside the jungle and people going on jungle tours will have the same “swampy experience”. Mosquitos and mud are part of the jungle experience during the rainy season I am afraid. Lots of jungle lodges get flooded entirely during the rainy season and can only be reached by boat. My jungle reserve can be reached during the entire rainy season by road. The house is located on a hill and the entire house is protected against mosquitos with mosquito net screening. Pete another guest who stayed in the house in January 2017 said in his review “great location in the rainforest” and “ideal surrounding” ”I highly recommend this lodge”. There are many fruit trees, banana trees, palm trees and avocados on the property. Of course, it depends on the season if there are any fruits. In December for example we had 10 avocados a day! During your visit, there were star fruit/ Carambola, Caimito, Cacao, Breadfruit/ Pan de Arbol, bananas, Macambo and Picayo (a fruit from a palm tree) in season. I am sorry that you did not find any fruits. There are not in an orchard but planted inside the jungle. But of course, if you did not walk around you did not see them. The bathroom is NOT in the middle of the living room but on the side of it. I am sorry if this caused any discomfort. In July I will renovate the ground floor and the living room will be moved downstairs again to its original location. Then the free space will be used for Yoga. Yes I built the toilet out of a bucket, toilet seat and funnel. Most people actually like the design. There is a picture of it in my description so guests know what type of toilet I have. The toilet has a normal toilet seat, a wooden frame with a plastic bucket inside and is connected via a pipe to a septic tank which cleans the sewage. So it is NOT ”just a bucket with a hole”. A regular porcelain toilet would be too heavy for the wooden floor. That’s why I have built my own toilet out of a plastic bucket. Again, I am sorry if this self-built toilet caused you any discomfort.

Hi, my name is Ivonne and I`m originally from Germany. Soon after my 18th birthday I left my home country to travel the world. Now I live in the lovely jungle town Iquitos in Peru. I love to meet new people and see new places.
