Thank you, Jennifer, for your clear and cordial review. I am pleased that you found my home clean and cozy. I work hard to keep it that way and pay for professional cleaning services as well. I am always happy to help during a stay and made efforts to take out trash and recycling during your stay to assist with the efforts toward cleanliness.
Nevertheless, my home is visited by many people throughout the year, and I have no control of how they choose to occupy the space. Thus, I have to struggle mightily to keep the six legged creatures at bay. I am sorry ants were a problem for you; it is not the first time. During the summer it gets very warm and the ants invade all homes in San Diego seeking cool and moisture (as you found information online to support this). If the ants find something they like, (diapers, soiled feminine products, raw food containers -especially uncooked meats)-well, they decide to move in. Very difficult to eliminate. I am not implying that this was the case on your behalf, but my experiences as a host over the years. I am opposed to spraying gallons and gallons of toxic and poisonous fluids in and around the home to control insects as it isn’t safe for people, children, or pets. Yes, ants are icky, but I do try my best to provide a safe and clean environment for all.
I rechecked my listing information regarding my presence on the property. I found it to be current, but I do not recall when I last updated it (possibly after you had booked.) Since that time, my relationship status has changed, and I indeed had to construct a place for me to reside when I allow guests to occupy the interior. I’m sorry if you feel you were misled, but from what I can see online from my end, all listing information is clear, and honest (including the information about the dogs.) I’m sorry you felt you were misled on this regard, and felt it rather harsh to leave this item on public review. There is naught I can do about that now. I’m sure that your experience as a former employee of Airbnb, you could have selected to communicate some of your concerns to me personally in the private feedback, or personally while you were here. Hopefully, future potential guests can read past your review and to the many other glowing reviews left for my space in their shopping efforts for a place to stay in San Diego.
Lastly, as soon as your Mom got up at 5am and stated moving around in the house, the brown dog, Koko, did yip and beg to get attention. When you were here, each day Koko did this, I immediately got up and took them on a four mile walk to tire them out, feed them, and clean up the outside yard. They remained quiet through the rest of the day with the exception of the times you liked to play with them.
Thank you again for the booking of my home. I am glad you were happy with the majority of your stay, and I hope I have been fair to you and to my listing with this response. You are a nice family and I would be happy to host you again.
