Welcome! Wickham House is a circa 1815 stone home at the intersection of Cork & Braddock Streets in the heart of Old Town Winchester. The house is over 200 years old but fully updated. The Loudoun Street walking mall is just yards away.
There are two bedrooms, including a big bedroom in front and a smaller bedroom in back. The house can comfortably sleep 7-8 people. In addition to three big sofas, there are 3 beds, including a Queen and Twin bed (front bedroom) and a Full bed (back bedroom). There are 2.5 baths, all recently renovated, including a half bath downstairs and two full baths upstairs (front bath has a shower; back bath has a tub/shower). The larger front bedroom features a sitting area and a gas fireplace. The smaller back bedroom features access to the back yard.
Downstairs in back, the primary living area is spacious and light-filled thanks to an array of south-facing Velux windows. The architect-designed open floor plan encompasses a dining area with ample seating for six; a modern kitchen featuring Miele appliances and a big granite countertop; and a two-story vaulted sitting area with two big sofas for catching up with family/friends.
The front room downstairs is cozy and styled more traditionally. There are comfy club chairs and a sofa upholstered in sea-foam velvet. The scale is from another era: Watch your head, people were evidently shorter back in the day. Enjoy the library, but don't let Hegel ruin your weekend! There is a jigsaw puzzle in the works if you're inclined. There's another gas fireplace, let me know if you'd like to turn it on and I'll give you the run-down.
There is cable internet (wireless). The walls are thick, but cellular reception is very good, especially if you use Sprint. There is a small TV with a Roku player for streaming. You'll have to supply your own Netflix password, sorry! Sports fanatics seeking a big TV experience are directed just down the street to 50/50 Taphouse. 50/50 has plenty of pixels and the beer selection is great.
Although the house is over 200 years old, it is recently renovated and fully updated. The original colonial era windows feature acoustic panels by Indow Window (technology winner out of Portland, OR). The 2-zone heating and cooling system (gas furnace, air conditioning) is controlled by Nest thermostats. If you need help adjusting the temperature, just text or call and I'll walk you through it or make changes remotely. Other energy-saving environment-friendly features include new Kohler toilets and LED bulbs throughout.
Guests with special needs: There are several stairways to negotiate, including up to the front door, and the bedrooms are on the second floor.

You may enjoy the entire space, exception of the attic, basement and downstairs utility. The backyard is a work in progress, but feel free to step out...urban oasis coming soon!

Parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles, there's a tall Evenflo baby gate to keep toddlers off the stairs and a Pop 'n Play fold-away playard to keep infants in place. However, please know that the kitchen and bathroom cabinets aren't child-proof.
Hosts and hostesses, the space is really great for entertaining. Several guest have given small dinner parties. However, please no keggers or other crazinesss!
I live downtown myself and have enjoyed watching the Historic District grow and improve over time. It's a pleasure to see guests discover Winchester, and gratifying to be a small part of the changes that are happening here.
