5th floor, with lift, within a 1910s residential complex. The renovation focused on functionality, terseness, materials quality. It reflects my taste and personality. The light, my dragon plants and art books collection are your flatmates. The flat has a very silent air con system. A professional helps me with check-ins when I am not in town, therefore I have to ask 25€ for check-ins 7-10pm, and 40€ for check-ins 10-12pm. I ask to be reimbursed using the "extra services" Airbnb option.

Her skal du være

Rom, Lazio, Italien

Ostiense quarter is south of Testaccio quarter, just outside the historic walls (Mura Aureliane), where Cestia Pyramid (Piramide) is. More than Piramide, the gasometer (Gasometro), 90 meters of steel that up to the '60 provided gas to the whole city, is the true quarter's icon, a sort of post industrial Colosseum.

Ostiense is an up and coming, working class quarter, very much beloved by its inhabitants. You can really experience the authentic Roman spirit, especially if you are around when Roma football team plays. It is not a touristic quarter par excellence but it gets very busy at night with locals and tourists as it is very well known for its bars, clubs, restaurants, pizzerie, and gelaterie.

It's here that the Turkish director Ferzan Ozpetek set his beautiful "Le fate ignoranti" and in the 50s, another of my favorite directors, Luchino Visconti, set "Bellissima".

Everything needed is at hand. On via Caboto and via del Gasometro streets there are bar/cafe/tobacco and bakery opened H24. Cashpoints and pharmacies are on the parallel viale Ostiense street.

From here you can go for beautiful walks of 15 to 30 minutes to the most popular and touristic sites as well as to less know gorgeous spots and monuments. Once at the Piramide Cestia (5 5 minutes walk) finally restored and opened for guided tours, you can walk to Testaccio where you find the Museum of Contemporary Art MACRO, set in the ex slaughterhouse (15 minutes walk) where concerts, dj sets and theatre performances also take often place; the non catholic cemetery where Gramsci, Shelley, Keats are buried) and Monte dei cocci (10 minutes). From Piramide you can also walk up to Colle Aventino, a marvellous walk among residential buildings of the '20s to '40s, Roman churches, roses and oranges gardens with the unmissable view on the whole city (30 minutes). From here, walking further, you reach Circo Massimo, Colosseum, Terme di Caracalla (about 40 minutes). From home, in the opposite direction, there is the Museum Montemartini, the ex hydroelectric station where beautiful classical statues have been permanently installed (5 minutes) and a little bit further the Saint Paul Cathedral (15 minutes)... And more and more!

I'm 41. Italian. I moved to Rome from northern Italy in 2012 and fell in love with this amazing city, so much so that after a couple of years I bought this flat, which I am really proud of. I also lived in London, for 5 years and I travelled quite a lot. When travelling I like to give myself a few treats, especially when it comes down to accomodations. Here, as a host, I do my best to offer what I, as a guest, look for.
