Unfortunately, the fire alarm triggered around 1 am from the detector in room # 6 (empty guest room) - not the room Matt was staying in. I live about one mile away, and arrived within 8 minutes with the State Police behind me which prevented me from exiting my car for a few minutes. When I entered the house I immediately went up to room # 6 and quickly confirmed (steady red light) that we had a false alarm. I did not need to go in every guest room as we have an intelligent alarm system. The other guests understood my explanation, but not Matt based on what he posted. We keep the solar cover on the pool on cool nights to keep the pool temperature above 80F . . I offered to take it off, but this guest said that they would not be using the pool. The pool company came in to service the hot tub heater, but needed additional parts - some things are just beyond my control. It is just unfortunate that these things led to such a negative review. The outside stairs do not need replacing - the builder used pressure treated lumber 14 years ago which has a knack for shedding paint. We will be sanding and repainting them now that we are moving into the "off season" - you just can't sand and paint them when the inn is full of guests. It is just unfortunate that we had several problems on the one night Matt was here.
