The pictures of this apartment do not do it justice! It is spacious, warm, inviting and oh-so-Montreal. Ample closet space, creaky wooden floors and simple, lovely furnishings with a bit of unusual art thrown in to add style. High ceilings, lots of natural light, room for a nice dinner party if you so desire. The kitchen is well-stocked with everything you could possibly require - the old piano was a very welcome added bonus, and the office space behind it was perfect for our needs. By far my favourite feature was the absolutely charming balcony that overlooks Avenue Laurier Ouest - ideal for a romantic evening dinner in the warmer months. There are spectacular Montreal sunsets and beautiful cloud formations for you to gaze at, with your glass of wine in hand! Eric was a terrific host. He came to personally welcome us and ensure that we were settled. When the dishwasher broke he took care of it immediately. As is the case sometimes in Montreal, the water went off a few times - but it was only for a few hours and happened only twice during our four month stay. It is an older apartment and the bathroom needs renovation, but if you're looking for authentic old-school Montreal, this is it. A caution to parents or those with limited mobility, the three-floor stair case is very steep!
Pia's review is very accurate. The apartment is very stylish (it looks just like the photos) with interesting artwork. The location is great. Not only is the supermarket very close, but there are many interesting stores and restaurants to walk to. There is also a nice farmers' market close by on Thursday and Sunday, and a playground that our six year-old daughter enjoyed a lot. The metro is not far and there are buses to downtown that are even closer.
Eric is extremely easy to deal with. One thing people should know is that the apartment is on a relatively busy street and there is a cafe below with outdoor seating, so at least in the summer, this is probably not the best choice if you are very sensitive to noise.
Eric had a lovely condo. spacious and very nicely decorated. location cannot be better for someone who loves walks, shopping, night life, mountain activities and access to the entire city.
This apartment is in a fantastic location. Great cafes and restaurants in the street, supermarket around the corner, transport very handy. The balcony onto the street is great for watching the neighbourhood go by.
The apartment itself is quite large, the kitchen and bathroom are good, wifi internet great, living spaces nice to be in. The dining room table is large and offers plenty of room to entertain or lay things out. The only surprises were that the floor is very creaky and the main bedroom is not acoustically separated from the loving space/study – has a curtain rather than a door. This is fine unless you have someone on the couch bed in the living space and you want some privacy. The kids room was big and our daughter liked having this to herself.
Eric was lovely to deal with and his friend, who met us with the key, gave us a fantastic introduction to Montreal with lots of information that would taken a while for us to work out otherwise.
Would highly recommend this apartment for a great stay in Montreal. We would certainly stay there again if we visit again.
