Sweet Home is located north of the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge, and south of Nature Conservancy's Ball Creek Ranch and the Boundary-Smith Creek Wildlife Management Area in a pristine wildlife corridor. Your room, bath & wood heated porch with private entrance are separate from the main house. Overflow mini-cabin can be available. Horses welcome with special arrangements; you fence. Gourmet breakfast for up to four if additional use of mini-cabin with special arrangements is chosen.
Although attached to the the house, this room is completely private with its own entrance. The view from your screen porch is of the Selkirk Mountains, which rise up behind the property. The Selkirks are home to the last herd of Woodland Caribou in the lower 48. There is a mini-cabin available at extra cost with 2 more single beds. We can provide for your horses with special arrangements. We have no fencing but ample space to set up high line. Hike our trails on the property and in the National Forest right outside the back door. A beautiful secluded waterfall is within a half hour hike into the woods out back. Wildlife abounds here with the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge 5 miles south and the Nature Conservancy's Ball Creek Ranch just one mile north of us. Just a bit further up the road you will find Grizzly habitat, old growth forest, and the Canadian border.

Walter, the dog provides security and laughs. I highly recommend that you get in touch with us to get specific directions to our home. GPS doesn't show us correctly and some have had difficulty finding us, being routed up north on the other side of the river and several miles out of the way. It should be quite easy if you have the proper instructions.
Smoking is not allowed within 25 feet of the house. We expect guests to be quiet after 10 pm and to respect the peace of others in the house.
I recently retired from a very fulfilling social service position in the Pilsen community of Chicago. I now live in North Idaho. I enjoy meeting new people and love to make people feel comfortable. I am proud of the cleanliness and beauty of my home. I love the outdoors, travel, cooking, and hiking and riding in the mountains. I also have ties to Antigua, Guatemala where I lived for several years and visit often. I try to be an asset to my community through volunteering.
