.....Life aboard Malu isn’t dictated by the pressure of time, it doesn’t need a clock. Ultimately, life aboard is influenced by your aspirations and dreams. You are free from the stresses of the world, free to sail with us to a variety of destinations. We don’t arrive and put a tick on a map; done, been there! No, we enjoy beautiful destinations and savour the tranquillity of sun soaked days and exciting night life.
THE BOAT & CREW
.....Marc bought Malu in 2009 in Martinique; it was love at first sight. Since then Malu has been carefully restored and updated to turn her into our floating home.
This boat is not a mass produced charter boat, but an individually build and designed steel vessel with character and charm. Malu is bespoke; lovingly built over a period of years in the Netherlands. Her hull is built from 5mm steel and her rig is of strong pine. For a boat of this size Malu offers a floating home with comfortable, spacious living space and a good quality of life.
Malu is 11 metres long, has a weight of 15 tons. She will never win any races but amongst friends she is lovingly known as the ‘lounge boat.’ Over the years we have developed an intimate relationship with Malu and every day we develop a fresh appreciation of her qualities.
Malu has space for 4 people; a comfortable guest cabin with its own hatch and a fan for a fresh breeze, plus the owner’s separate cabin. The guest cabin will accommodate two people as two single beds or one double bed. We provide your bed linen and on-board towels, but not beach towels. Malu has one shower/toilet room that is independent to either cabin.
The crew: Marc and Ivonne, and their two dogs; Mango, a loving adult female, and Sugar, a male playful puppy. We work together as a team to cater for every aspect of your stay aboard and your adventure.
.....The people you will meet are part of the Caribbean culture of taking your time, of enjoying life’s rich natural abundance, of smiling and being greeted by those you meet. It is quite normal to be greeted with ‘Good morning, ‘ or ‘Good afternoon,’ when walking down a Caribbean island street. Soon you will realise the difference between that fast corporate, commercialised world and this Caribbean land that is dictated to by the natural world and the turn of the earth.
OUR (URL HIDDEN) is simple; we don’t want to make you a promise we can’t keep! We live with our environment and hope that you want to share this approach to make your stay aboard Malu totally unforgettable.
On-board Malu we try our very best to share with our guests what is good, fresh and in season in the Caribbean, and this includes the ‘catch of the day.’
We offer you a obligatory choice of either a full board menu which contains breakfast, lunch and dinner, offered with non-alcoholic drinks all day long for 80US$ per person/day or halfboard which would include breakfast and dinner for 50US$. Meals will be served at flexible times and based on mostly local incredients and your preferences and diet instructions. We also have a selection of additional snacks and alcoholic drinks, if you wish to purchase these.
.....We are excited to show you destinations that are away from the beaten track of most package tourists. You will begin your adventure on our home base island; the tri-island state of Grenada, West Indies, and continue along the Lesser Antilles and into the breathtakingly beautiful Grenadines and Tobago Cays.
Which of these beautiful islands would be your dream destination? Tell us and we will try to fit this into our sailing plan for you.
HARNESSING NATURE'S RESOURCES
.....Malu and natures forces give us the freedom to sail and anchor where we choose whilst on-board we have a low carbon footprint and are energy self-sufficient.
We use the winds and currents to travel to our new destinations whilst on-board we produce our own electrical energy. Our carbon footprint is minimal because we produce electricity via mono-crystalline solar panels and wind turbine generators, and have a battery bank of over 1000 amps. With the electricity we produce we are able to power; lights, fans, entertainment systems, modem, dive compressor and navigation systems.
We produce our own water with an on-board water maker and, whenever possible, we collect pure rain water. All our drinking water goes through a filtration system.
You are welcome to use our on-board, on-board Wi-Fi hotspot to email and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN).
