On the phone and e-mail or occasionally meeting them on the way out. We will not be on the premises.
On the side of the mountain. Quiet and secluded. Some neighbors, all very nice. Can be challenging in winter – you'll definitely need 4WD then.
Car is best, but you can take a Trailways bus from NYC to Woodstock and then take a cab up to the house for about $10. You can also stay on the bus to Church Road in Shady and then hike up the mountain one half mile to the house. Ask owner for specifics.

The four of us have spent a good time in Raymond's house. The house is cozy and the location is perfect to go around Woodstock and Catskills. We were provided with accurate direction to the house and the excellent activities around the area. Communication with the host was prompt and pleasant. Overall experience was satisfied.
The Doh-Ray cabin is magical!! We had an amazing time here - in the house itself (and in the center of town which is a super short drive away). This is the perfect place when you want your accommodations to not just enable your experience but actually be part of it. We loved every moment of hanging out at the house - whether cooking dinner (this place is fully stocked with appliances and cookware) or enjoying the fireplace or listening/watching nature from the screened-in porch. It's an ideal base from which to experience the unbelievable charm of Woodstock and nearby towns.
Raymond and Maura were super accommodating, informative, and available for any questions we had. A huge thank you!
For anyone who is a nature lover or even has a minimum appreciation, this place is a gem! The aesthetic details and furnishings here are flawless, and the views from pretty much every room are perfect. It's cozy, relaxing, private, serene, romantic, and inspiring. We would recommend this place in a second, and hope to come back soon! :)
We had the most amazing stay in the Doh-Ray cabin! It was a beautiful clean home, with all of the amenities we needed to stay in and cook, BBQ and have a small fire out back. The house is secluded yet close to town and neighbors are close by. Raymond and Maura were both very quick to respond with any question we had. I can't say enough good things about this home, it is a charming, cozy cabin, great for a long weekend or even a longer stay. We plan on coming back, hopefully when the leaves turn in the fall so we can enjoy the beautiful surroundings again!
Raymond’s house was lovely and the setting was perfect. Surrounded entirely by woods it almost felt like camping but instead of being in a tent we lounged inside the cozy house with all the amenities you could want at the ready. We hiked behind the house, took short drives into Woodstock and Phoenicia and relaxed in the screened in porch (best part of the house) reading and listening to the sounds of the (website hidden) was a breeze in the well equipped kitchen and the bed was comfortable replete with soft sheets and bedding. Maura was quick and thorough in her responses and supplied all of the info we needed. We had a fantastic stay!
It has been a week since our stay at Raymond's cabin and we keep talking about it. The location is perfect, 10 mins from Woodstock, its shops and restaurants, while still secluded and very peaceful. Everything in the house was perfect, you walk into a lived place with a soul and all needed ammenities for cooking and making your stay at home. The porch, the pond, the beds, the hills, the grill and fireput! Maura responded promptly to our questions and gave us great tips. We even saw a bear from the living room window. A wonderful hikevis steps away and fishing is possible 10 mins away, a swimming hole to cool down is not far. Our lkds loved the nature, we loved the peace. We would go back in a heartbeat!
We are back from our idyllic weekend at Doh-Ray and already pining for Woodstock! We cannot say enough about how perfectly this little cabin in the woods fit our vacation bill--it was relaxing, in a beautiful setting, comfortable + had all the creature comforts of home while maintaining that rustic, mountain vibe. We enjoyed shopping in Woodstock's excellent markets + wine shops, where we picked up gourmet food to cook at home a few nights. And what better way to cap a dinner in the woods than with s'mores, which we roasted over the back yard fire pit. Comfy beds, good shower, well-stocked kitchen, awesome surround sound + an incredible setting made for the perfect getaway. Thanks Raymond + Maura for all of the fun suggestions about things to do--we nearly did them all!
I split my time between my apartment in the city and this beautiful place in Woodstock. I find myself spending more and more of my time there, enjoying being on the edge of the wilderness and exploring the great hiking in the area.
