Willing to experience the real Tuscan countryside and get in contact with local people? Welcome to our farm: this house offers gorgeous views on all sides, antique cotto floors and plenty of space both inside & out.
This four-bedroom, two-bathroom farmhouse is nestled into the side of a hill with stunning views over the surrounding valleys. The house, originally from the 1800's, was built out of Tuscan red bricks that were produced on the property.
It has a full eat-in kitchen with dishwasher and raised fireplace, a spacious living and dining room with fireplace, a sitting room with grand piano (very old and no more in tune), a laundry room and a covered loggia. The sleeping area has two double bedrooms and two bedrooms with two single beds (which can turn into two double beds), as well as two bathrooms (one with shower and one with bath tub). A sofa bed in the living room can accommodate two more people (please consult the house rules for costs).
The house is all on one level, with only a few steps that lead from one room to the next. Because the sleeping area is separate from the living area, it is the perfect place for a group of friends who want a bit of privacy or for families with children. Just off the wide grassy lawn there is a small plunge pool and a deck with barbecue for outdoor eating.
The house is part of our 500 hectares organic farm. When choosing to stay with us, our guests have the unique opportunity of sharing the everyday life of a Tuscan working farm. They'll be in contact with gorgeous nature and with an Italian and international staff that is always happy to share their life experience.
Adgang for gæster
Lost in the countryside and very quiet, this is a house that encourages solitude, while also offering space for gathering.
The house has a small private dipping pool (2m x 3m, not heated) open from May to September. It also has a private garden and a pergola opening on a stunning view.
The house is surrounded by multiple hiking trails that take you down the main farm building or to the other houses of the farm. You'll have a map of the property when you check-in.
The main farm building is a 10 minute walk downhill (3-minute drive – 0,5 km on a dirt road). At the office in the main farmhouse, Guido & his team are always happy to help. There is also a small shop where we sell our own organic meat, olive oil, honey and white truffles (when in season), as well as other local and organic basic products.
Around the main farm building, you can visit many animals – who often become the main attraction of our youngest guests: cows, pigs, cats, dogs…

Why did we decide to share our farm on AirBnb? Because we love getting in touch with our guests. The office in the main farm building is open every morning and we are always happy to help you in case you need assistance or suggestions about the area. And if you don't need anything... it's still great to have a chat, share our stories, go to visit the stable or the veggie garden, or taste some of the products of the farm.
Cooking lessons, bread baking & pizza making classes and truffle hunting (in autumn) are all experiences offered on site (experiences are not included in the rate).
Andre ting, der er værd at bemærke
You're going to stay on a working farm. We've dirt roads connecting the houses to the main farm building. Regular cars are fine, but low sport cars are not recommended for driving within the farm.
This is an organic farm. That means living nature, including... insects, especially during summer.
This is a place where to disconnect from a busy life: no Tv, no DVD players, no air conditioning, just (gorgeous) nature, BBQs, walks, and exploring.
Bring appropriate shoes (if it rains it can be muddy) and expect real (yet very comfortable) countryside living.
From the last week of September to December, only on specific days, you may find hunters on the property. They help keeping the wild boar population that lives within the farm under control (boars do love white truffles).
Our farm is a working farm and, while the utmost care is taken to provide a family-friendly experience, there are inherent dangers present in such a natural setting (some guests suggested to remember that vipers can be in the area, though it is extremely rare meeting them). By completing a booking, guests accept full responsibility for their safety and the safety of all members of their party.

Ten years ago I transformed my family's historic estate into an organic agriturismo. Since then, I divide my time between Florence, where I live with my wife and our three children, and the farm.
Barbialla Nuova is 500 hectares of forests and pastures, 100% organic, where we raise Chianina beef, hunt for white truffles and produce honey & olive oil. There are two families that live and work on the farm - Ilaria, Francesco and their daughter Gaia who run the agriturismo and Frank, our talented Dutch carpenter and night guardian, with his girlfriend Sofie. You can find me at the farm two days per week. We're all always happy to share the secrets of the area with our guests, so you can be sure to find the best restaurant, farm shop, artisan goods or simply the best way to spend a rainy day with the kids.
