As soon as you walk into this room, you feel at home. Comfy queen bed with 100% cotton sheets and comforter, private balcony, and a large walk in closet with plenty of shelf space for the treasures you'll collect during your adventure on Maui. Beach & Bath towels are provided along with Beach chairs, cooler, suscreen, shampoo and other misc. items.
While the balcony does not have an ocean view, the trees surrounding the home make you feel like your in the middle of your own oasis, and the sunset, if your not on the beach can be just as relaxing sitting on the balcony.
Please note the bathroom is shared with one other room, if needed there is a 1/2 bath on the first floor and an outdoor shower.
Our neighborhood is quite, and relaxed, as it should be living on Maui. No rush, no stress, no clocks to check as it doesn't matter...your on vacation!..:)
Our home is within walking distance to everything in Kihei. shopping, at Kalama Center, Kukui Mall, library,
Starbucks, internet cafe, roller skating at Kalama park, tennis courts also at Kalama park, and all along So. Kihei Road, gorgeous beaches...take your pick. Surfing, kayaks, canoe paddling and Stand up paddle boards rentals across from Cove Park beach/Kalama Park. Foodland is also within walking distance, for grocery shopping.
If you choose not to rent a car, there is a public bus system it is a $1.00 per ride. However, when you first arrive it's a hassle to catch the bus, you will have to transfer several times, and the bus stops running between 8-10pm depending on the route. I can arrange a Taxi pick up for you. The fare is $45 one way, and as the owners of the cab company are friends this is a great deal offered to my guests. The ride is typically 30-50 minutes depending of time of day and traffic. If your interested in using 'beach cruisers' bicycles, mopeds, or want to book tours, Boss Frogs is just down the street, they rent all kinds of amenities.
CAR RENTAL Options you can book on the internet (local small businesses that are affordable):
1. Kihei Rent A Car
2. Bio-Beetle, eco friendly car rental alternative
3. Franks Friendly Cars
4. Aloha Rent A Car
EATS: Cost of food is crazy expensive here, however there are many great little locally owned eateries that offer home cooked meals at very reasonable prices. A list of them will be provided in your room. There is also a farmers market in our neighborhood, which is great for picking up fresh fruits/Banana bread for breakfast.
Laundry: Lipoa Street Laundromat is only about 3-5 minute drive away...if (email hidden)ey offer coined washer/dryer, or you can drop your dirty linens and they will wash/fold them for you for a reasonable fee, and you can pick them up after a day of sightseeing. My personal washer/dryer is not available for use.
Help yourself to the kitchen to make a meal, or BBQ area in front of the house, or back deck is nice for relaxing on a warm day under the tree and reading a book.
Typically I'm not around too much, so my interaction with guests is minimal. This is why I put together a 'Welcome Book' to help you get familiar with our home and neighborhood. If I am home I'm busy cleaning, or working at my desk...and during those moments am always happy to meet my guests and answer questions or give advice if asked.
The location is excellent, walking distance to everything in Kihei from Starbucks to the beach...personally I love to get up early and take a power walk through Kalama park, sunsets are equally stunning there especially during whale season.
The Maui Bus has stops all up and down South Kihei Road, and is a good way to get around if you decide not to rent a car. Except when coming to/from airport. I suggest getting a taxi for that.
Mopeds & beach cruiser bicycles are also available for rent at 'Boss Frogs' on South Kihei Road. Only a 5 minute walk from my home.
The State of Hawaii requires all persons running BnB or transient accommodations to collect a 13.4% tax. As I cannot add it on as a separate charge with airbnb, it is collected when you arrive.
We loved the room. It's a really nice decorated and cute room. It was the perfect place for us and we enjoyed staying there for two nights. Thank you!
The reviews don't lie! Everything was exactly as we had hoped for our 7 night stay on Maui. Kym's home is safe, clean & comfortable. A pleasant walk away from restaurants, Foodland grocery store (some of the best poke on the island) & Kalama Beach Park / Kihei shore. Some of the fantastic restaurants less than 5 mins. drive away include Home Maid Cafe (breakfast), Coconuts (fish & chips/fish tacos) & Eskimo Candy (more fish & chips! more poke!). We never made it as far as the "Bar-muda triangle" (10 mins. walk) as we were too exhausted from stuffing our faces & laying around on the most incredible beaches to bother with the nightlife. Made great use of Kym's boogie boards & snorkel gear though!
Having stayed 3 times in the Kaanapali area, we actually found Kihei to be a better (and more central) starting point for activities around the island. The fact that Kym's home is situated in a neighborhood will also give you a better feel for the island than the beach hotels & condos.
Hope to be back!
kym's house is great. Our room was clean and had a nice balconny. Perfect place to stay while visiting Kihei area.
The room was great. We enjoyed eating our breakfast out on the balcony and listening to the birds. Kym was helpful answering our questions. The amenities were a nice touch, especially the cooler, sunscreen and insect repellent. We would certainly stay with Kym again.
Staying with Kym was the perfect decision. A clean, conveneient place with everything I needed at my fingertips. Thank you for all the effort you put into making peoples stay enjoyable. I especially appreciated the beach chairs and cooler, that made my beach days so relaxing.
It's a really nice bright and airy room just as advertised. And we had everything we needed. Kym had lots of Beach-Gear ready which we were free to use. The kitchen was fully equipped.
Kym was very helpful in giving us tips for what to do on Maui.
There are several nice restaurants and bars in walking distance. A small beach is maybe a 15min to 20min walk. All major attractions on Maui are easyly reachable from the apartment.
We really appreciate that Kym allowed us to stay in her house. The location is very convenient, close to everything; stores, restaurants, beaches etc. The room was very clean, bright, beautifly decorated and equiped with everything you may need, including; beach bags, sun glasses, sun tanning lotion, beach umbrella, beach chairs, cooler, fridge etc. We enjoyed very much breakfasts on our private balcony while listening to singing birds. It has been a great pleasure to meet Kym and her doughter :-)
We had a great stay in Kym's clean, comfortable and convenient private room. The experience was very straight forward and easy, as she automates everything from arrival to check-out, and provides a comprehensive guide book to save you the time and trouble of expecting her to provide info to each and every guest. The location is great for easy access to groceries, shopping, beaches and sight-seeing in the Kihei area. Thanks!
Kym was an awesome host! The room was great and she offered us beachtowels, beachchairs an umbrella etc. for our stay in Kihei! It was our first airbnb experience and just great! We will definitely recomend you and we would like to stay at Kym's house on our next trip to Maui! Thank you! Daniel and Corinne
The room was fantastic! Huge walk in closet, great patio looking into a tree, clean comfy bed. My mother-in-law stayed here for week, during the same time my mom stayed in the other room across the hall. (My husband and I stayed 10 minutes away and got married during that week. )
The house was centrally located, although I couldn't imagine them managing without a car.
Kym was lovely to book with and quick in emailing back etc. the rooms were very well equipped with beach chairs, towels, beach bags, etc. Both Mom's loved staying at Kym's place and loved their rooms!
