Moored in a friendly area with around 30 houseboats, guests will have a unique experience in copenhagen. Holmen has recently become a very smart, attractive area surrounded by water and green spaces. it is home to the Opera, College of Music, the Architect School and the Naval base. It is easy to get to the centre of copenhagen and local tourist attractions such as Christiania, the little mermaid (water boat), by foot, water boat (5 min sail)/ bus /metro. It is a friendly, attractive area and on a clear day the views from the boat are lovely.
In the nearby area, you will find a fantastic nordic inspired cafe and a large green play area with a climbing tree where kids can play football and other games. There is a marina with restaurant and a fantastic beach bar a few minutes ride by bike. The local supermarket is 10 minute walk and Christianshavn has everything that you need including bakers park, shops, cafes and restaurants. It is a beautiful place to walk around and look at boats, have a drink at one of the many canal cafe or bars. If it is beach you are after then from here you have the choice of our small local beach used by the boat community - our kids love to go down to throw stones but it is also easy to get to Amager Beach, a lovely beach area with lifeguards, beach bars and summer activities etc
Please email if you are interested in a specific date that appears unavailable.

Unique, green, water and character. Boats make it charming and different.
5 minute walk from bus 9A that runs every 9 minutes in to the centre of town. A few minutes walk from the harbour boat which takes you across the water in to the city. 15 minute walk form Christianshavn.
We expect people to respect that they are staying in somebody's home with people's belongings. Respect the surrounding environment and people that live there.
We had a fantastic time at Alison's houseboat. Even before we arrived we experienced her hostibility as she was very helpsom regarding questions raised. When we arrived we were NOT disappointed. The houseboat was fantastic and the location was perfect. Like a village in the city. The place was very nice and quiet but with very short distance to Copenhagen centre and very easy to get there. Also a perfect place for children as there was room for playing both inside and outside. We enjoyed our stay very much and would love to stay there again.
The houseboat was really great and everything we needed was at our disposal. The location is also perfect and the city center can be reached easily with the taxiboat or with the bus. Our stay in Copenhagen was really great and living in a houseboat was a wonderful experience. The children were also very happy and could play and enjoy a lot inside and outside the houseboat. Really a fantastic stay and if we come back to Copenhagen, we will surely stay again in this houseboat.
Alisons houseboat is a great place to stay. We have been there with 3 Children for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay for every second. The boat is clean and well equiped (even a trike for driving with a kid) and near to the center (besides that: no traffic & you can enjoy the nature!). Alison did everything to give us pleasant days. A++. Highly recomended.
I stayed on Alis houseboat with 5 friends for a week during new years eve. It is always surprising, how comfortable, warm and spacious houseboats are. That means, all points one could mention against a houseboat are not true. Even in winter and with little kids it is possible to live on a houseboat.
I´m glad that people like Ali and her family give us the possibility to discover and experience the houseboat feeling. Thanks a lot! I mostly liked the little living room on the top floor. It was super cozy. Also the layout of the boat was nice. There is a lot of room for 6 grown-ups.
Since a year I´m looking and staying at different houseboats to check out the design to built my own one day. I like how different the boats are layed out and how the technique onboard works.
A big plus for Alis boat is the location. It´s a good bike ride far from the city center of Copenhagen and next to the free city of Christiania, which is a beautiful area to go for a walk. Since it is not allowed to park the car in front of the boat, you can park your car next to the opera. There are a lot of other cars, the parking id free and it´s only a 5 min walk back to the boat.
I also liked about our trip the communication with Ali. We could not figure out how to lock the front door - even if it was written in the boat manual. Shame on us! We may looked a little closer. Ali helped us out with writing a message back immediately. Otherwise everything was exactly as described in the manual.
It is worth to see Copenhagen - especially when you can in such a special place for a low budget compared the a normal hotel rate. Mange tak for det!
We had a great time staying at Alison's place. The houseboat is in a great location, close to all the important sights but in a quiet place. We loved having breakfasts on the deck while watching swan family swimming around. The kitchen is well equipped and the whole place is nicely furnished and clean.
Communication with Alison was great, the family was away when we arrived but everything was prepared and organized so there were no issues.
We would definitely stay at the houseboat again in case we return to Copenhagen.
Had a wonderful time on the houseboat - a whole new experience for us. It was easily large enough for my husband and I and our two teenage sons. It is in a lovely quiet spot, close to central Copenhagen - a great place to retire to after a hectic day of sightseeing. We hired bikes for the time we were there, which made it really easy to get around and to and from the houseboat, although a regular bus runs close by. We found everything we needed on the houseboat and although we didn't meet Alison she was easily contactable by text. I would highly recommend staying here.

Scottish, married to Dane and mum of 3 little ones. Fell in love with a Dane and then with Copenhagen. A great city for a short or long holiday and living on a houseboat is the best way to experience it. I love travelling although destinations have had to become more child friendly recently. Enjoy spending time with friends esp on deck in summer time.
