Villa Amelia is a small house in a rural hamlet near the town of SantElia, close to Cassino and the world famous Montecassino. The house has stunning views of the monastery over the valley and is situated in the picturesque village of Portella.
This little house is an ideal base for anyone wishing to combine a trip to a authentic rural setting with easy access to Rome, the monastery of Montecassino, an easy drive to Naples, Vesuvius, Herculaneum and the awesome Amalfi Coast. The beach is approximately an hours drive away.
If you want to hang around the village, you'll find the house extremely comfy with loads of outdoor space to soak up some of that Mediterranean sun.
There is a small shop stocking the essentials, a pizzeria and bar which is open in the evenings.

There is a lot of private ground around the house and a small cultivated veg garden - please help yourself and use the plum tomatoes to make your own fresh "Sugo" (pasta sauce).
There is a south facing patio space at the back of the house where guests will be able to enjoy the sun, a cocktail or 2 and the view ... enjoy!

Andre ting, der er værd at bemærke
This is a genuine working village in Southern Italy where you will find people going about their day to day business, which is for the most part agricultural. You will find lovely fresh food, local wine and great coffee and gelato! Enjoy ...
Please make yourselves at home and treat the house as you would your own. If you leave as you find we will be very happy.

I'm Catherine and I'm married to Angelo. We have 4 kids - two, Dominic & Paul, are living at home with us and the others are currently living in Toronto. I am Canadian born, but have lived in Scotland forever and Angelo is an Italian-Scot, Leith born and bred, of Italian parents.
We have spent most of our working lives in the catering business - first of all we had a deli in the Royal Mile and now I'm working in product development management for a small independent retailer.
My real passion is for interiors and I love finding fun ways to upgrade old pieces of furniture and artifacts to give them a new lease of life.
We have a big family centred living space which we love to share. We hope you can come and stay with us sometime - we will make you very welcome!
