One-day passes and similar offers for tourists visiting Japan are available from each company.
What I have heard from guests suggests that the most effective passes are:
In the Kansai region, "ICOCA"
In the Kanto region, "Suica"
(or so it seems to me).
These can be charged at ticket machines.
On the way home from Japan, you can return the card at the airport or similar locations to receive the remaining money.
Enjoy your trip
