This charming, architect-renovated home on historic Locust Avenue welcomes you with light-filled rooms, beautiful finishes, and Domino mag-inspired decor. Its 2 bedrooms comfortably sleep 4. Just minutes from the Downtown Mall, UVA & Rivanna Trails!

Boligen
The Locust House lands you in one of Charlottesville's most beloved neighborhoods. It's right downtown, yet one of the quietest areas in the city. The home's recent renovation by its owner-architect takes full advantage of the home's excellent orientation; sunlight fills the cheery rooms from dawn til dusk. Beautiful finishes such as the original hardwood floors & new soapstone counters---combined with original art and new lighting--give the eye wonderful places to roam.

Gæsteadgang
Guests may access the main living level, front, and back yards. Laundry machines are accessible in the basement.

Beliggenhed

Locust Grove, Charlottesville, Virginia

Locust Avenue is the kind of street urban planners dream of: tree-lined, pedestrian-filled, and brimming with an interesting mix of architectural styles. Though now in the heart of downtown, the Locust house property was originally part of a large farm belonging to the Smith Family. The original Smith farmhouse remains--and is just two doors down from the Locust house. Nearby attractions abound: the Downtown Mall is a 15 minute walk out the front door to the left, and the Rivanna Trail System is an 8-minute walk out the front door to the right. The neighborhood's "home park" is Northeast Park, with play structures, picnic tables, a basketball court, a creek, a bridge, and nature trails. Locust Avenue is a vital, active corridor during the day, and is quiet and peaceful at night. Hooray for civic design!

I'm an architect, writer, and mother of two. I design and write for families. In high school and graduate school, I spent time living in Japan and Italy. My parents worked in academia, and we often hosted visiting professors and their families--or were hosted by them. These experiences gave me an enduring interest in travelers and traveling. Things I can't get enough of: Kalamata olives, design magazines, martial arts, opinionated children, and sweet deals from the Habitat Store. When I travel, the experiences that most imprint on my memory are the unexpected discoveries as much as the postcard monuments. A unique gallery, a hoppy pint, a high-five with a trolley driver, a polished doorknob, or the glimpse of a mother's sweet shush-shush to her baby. These go in the vault of Why Life is Beautiful. As a host, I want guests to feel at home, and to design little touches that make their visits special.

Under dit ophold
I look forward to greeting guests upon their arrival, and giving them a tour of the house. I reside in a separate residence next door to the Locust House.
