I had another exceptional stay at Meg's. The space is so welcoming, peaceful, and easy to navigate. I always appreciate how accessible it is to restaurants, sundries, and downtown Northfield. My seven year old daughter loves the park two blocks away - near a path with a bridge over the Cannon River. I didn't have time to enjoy the extensive deck but using it coming and going was enjoyable and added another special touch to the many already existing. I was grateful Meg was accommodating and friendly when my scheduling got a bit bungled. As they say: I almost don't want the secret out that this is a beyond wonderful place to stay. PS: A special bonus was my stay coincided with Martha's Eats and Treats bakery/cafe being open: it's a must-visit (as a pastry chef and tough customer, I reserve high praise for not many).

We really enjoyed our three week stay at this beautiful historic home. Meg is a thoughtful host who did an excellent job of setting up a welcoming environment. The location is great with easy day trips to Minneapolis and close proximity to Northfield. The neighborhood is peaceful and great for talking walks. The kitchen was fully equipped and we enjoyed cooking each day then sitting on the beautiful deck outside. One of our favorite parts of the house are the professional photographs adorning the walls - they are truly stunning and make this a great find for art lovers. Also, kid friendly place was a bonus for us : ). We will definitely be back for another visit!

Meg's place is an excellent one-of-a-kind option in the Northfield area - especially well-suited for visitors to St. Olaf or Carleton. The apartment was clean, thoughtfully stocked with key items, and there was a vase of beautiful pink peonies in the window. The artwork and decorations were spot on and the space had a peaceful feel to it. Meg had some breakfast items in the fridge and although we did not use it, the kitchen would be ideal for cooking meals and eating in. Meg gave us check-in instructions well in advance of our visit and was easily available by text message.

We spent three nights at Meg's for our son's college graduation, having booked well over a year in advance. Northfield does not have good options for those of us who dislike motels or even small hotels, because they tend to be noisy. But this place was a dream! The old mercantile building is a wonderfully evocative survival on its quiet tree-lined (now wholly residential) street. The apartment, high above the street, is exactly the kind of place I would have loved to live in as a graduate student or young professional, and I had fun imagining how I would inhabit and decorate it. The space is rather sparely furnished, but the fully functional kitchen makes it ideal for a longer stay, and two bedrooms were a luxury. We did not have good weather, alas, but the deck high above the verdant lawn would have been lovely otherwise. I wish I were coming back!

I spent about two months here after I graduated from college so I could have a base camp while I found a job and an apartment in the twin cities. This apartment did not disappoint at all -- everything was so comfy and Meg was awesome at responding quickly and making sure I had everything I needed. It's in a quiet neighborhood too which makes it perfect for relaxing 24/7. I will (and do!) miss this apartment so much and I hope to be back again one day.

This is pur second stay, the first in the end-August blistering heat and this one in the end-March snow and cold. The place was as charming as before, it's also clear the heating works as well as the AC. Thank you Meg for making us feel at home again. We spent a lot of time indoors while my daughter was recovering from 4 wisdom teeth extraction. I will be sure to come again!

This small, well-equipped place is just a mile down the road from Northfield, MN, and in a quiet location not far from the Cannon River. The rooms were spotless and well-trimmed, with an excellent kitchen. Meg was gracious to leave some olive oil and other cooking items for our use, and we made great meals there. The bathroom has a clawfoot tub and all comfortable amenities. The bed in the master BR is very, very firm, so if you're anything but a back sleeper, you might have trouble getting good rest.

I am a photographer and professor of art. I have owned the historic Ault Store and used the first floor as a studio space for the past 20 years. I like working in my studio, making landscape photographs, and spending time with family and friends. I enjoy walking, biking, kayaking, and cross country skiing.
