Beautiful romantic old house, secluded walled gardens. Close to World Heritage Jurassic Coast, glorious countryside, lots of superb walks, 3 comfortable bedrooms, Aga kitchen, Wood-burner, Children & Dog friendly, delicious home-cooking offered. Very much a country/family home for you to relax, explore and enjoy.
Tower House has a magical atmosphere the moment you arrive. The house is set in secluded walled gardens with a natural pond and 2 old stone barns (where firewood is stored). It is a peaceful space; a bit overgrown and overlooked by a romantic old Tower. The garden is safe for dogs and small children (but young children and dogs will need to be supervised by adults near the pond). There is private parking for 2 vehicles accessed via the electric double gates.
*Separate cottage adjacent to main house (sleeps 2-4) available December 2017) so potential to rent out both for occasional groups* (discuss with Tamsin beforehand).
Since 2014, It has been a pleasure hosting 200 plus guests from around the world. Guests love the relaxing home from home vibe, its unique charm and character without worrying about keeping it immaculate. Guests should not expect a pristine 5 star luxury hotel. This is my family home and it dates back in part to the 17th Century. The garden is home to 24! varieties of garden birds and owls which hoot at night. Apart from the Owls and soft dawn chorus, it is incredibly peaceful, quiet and dark, so perfect for a good nights sleep. The stars on a clear night are absolutely amazing.
The overall feel and quality of the house is spacious, homely and comfortable. I am always trying to improve and upgrade the living spaces and have started to redecorate some of the rooms including a new very comfortable sofa in the sitting room to curl up on.
Second freestanding bath and sofa recently (November 2017) added to main light airy bedroom. This will now take pressure off the single bathroom for your convenience. The upstairs has a slightly unusual layout with just one airy bathroom which is between bedroom 1 and bedroom 3. The bathroom has a freestanding bath but no separate shower cubicle. There is a second downstairs loo/cloakroom. For this reason, I would suggest my home is more suitable for families and or close friends who don't mind sharing the bathroom. (Now have 2 freestanding baths). Feedback from the majority of guests is that this quirky arrangement did not diminish their overall experience staying here. Re-decorated Bedrooms are spacious, with very comfortable beds, quality bed linen, quiet and private.
I am also a professional caterer so I am happy to offer welcome SUPPERS and can email you a simple supper menu in advance. A welcome supper is a treat after a long journey and can be simply heated up in the Aga.
I provide a simple continental style breakfast, croissants, butter, jams, coffee etc and you are welcome to help yourselves to any store cupboard items, olive oil etc if you wish. I like to offer a personal touch to welcome you.
My home is very much a house for all seasons. It is also safe and secure.
Above all, apart from the peace and quiet of my home, its location in the rural heart of East Devon (close to Honiton) and easy access to some of the most beautiful countryside in East Devon and the Jurassic Coast is a fantastic bonus as it means you can enjoy the house and explore the area all the year round. I have a welcome info file with details of local places of interest to visit. Please also look at the photos and glowing testimonials to inspire you.
It is a pleasure living at Tower House. I am delighted to continue sharing my home with lovely people from around the world, throughout the year. I hope everyone who stays here will have a wonderful experience and enjoy and explore all the pleasures of this special part of rural East Devon.

Guests are welcome to make themselves at home as long as possessions and fabric of building are respected as if it was their own home. (Damage will need to be paid for subject to Airbnb guidelines). This is my precious family home, so I do trust and expect guests to have the common sense and good manners not to delve into drawers and cupboards which in my opinion would be off limits. Some personal items, books, magazines and photographs will be left out. I leave out a welcome info pack on the kitchen table. However, if you have any questions or wish to discuss something during your stay, then please contact me directly or Louise next door first, we are both very happy to oblige.
Please, no pets or smoking upstairs.
Ensure candles and wood burner not left unguarded and extinguished before retiring to bed.
Please supervise small children and dogs around the pond area to ensure their safety. Take care driving along Devon lanes which are narrow and twisty.
Please leave the electric zapper for double gates on kitchen table when you leave and replace the front door key where you found it. Security and access details are provided before your arrival. Thank you. I wish you a very happy stay. Best wishes. Tamsin

I respond quickly via text or airbnb to all expected guests. I always leave very clear instructions and directions to the house in advance. These same access details are on my site available upon a confirmed booking. I give out my mobile number and suggest guests text me their approximate time of arrival. If I am not here to greet you, Louise, my neighbour is usually on hand if you have any questions upon arrival or during your stay.

To treat my house and garden with care and respect as if it was your own home..
To leave house (and garden) in good order how you found it.
To have the common sense and good manners to NOT delve into drawers and cupboards which I would consider off limits, nor take photographs!
Please contact Tamsin via text first before contacting Airbnb if any problems upon arrival or during your stay. Tamsin very happy to sort.
Place rubbish bag outside front door, empty fridge,
empty bottles in recycling boxes.
Ensure electric double gates and green side gate always closed whilst in the property and when you leave (for security and privacy).
Keep zapper to electric gates safe (in your car) and replace on kitchen table before you leave.
Lost zapper will have to be replaced and paid for I 'm afraid as this is main "key" to property.
Ensure Wood burner doors closed before going to bed at night and before leaving property.
Extinguish all candles before going to bed/house. Do not leave lit candles unattended.
Clean up after dogs.
No smoking upstairs.
No pets upstairs.
Your responsibility to guard dogs and children in house and garden particularly near Pond.
Please ensure all gates shut (garden is dog proof)
Be careful driving around Devon lanes
Basically, common sense!
Enjoy your stay.

Hospitable, generous, intuitive, creative. I bring these qualities to my home environment and my cooking (I am a professional caterer) which I believe contributes to the good vibes my home has and why people love staying here.
