Spacious, sunny, super comfortable, 3 bedroom duplex apartment located right in a fishing village in a very unspoilt and beautiful part of the northern coast. Third and fourth floors of new building with elevator, two bathrooms, large living-dining

Many photos of this spacious, sunny apartment and the surrounding area are available upon request.

It is on the top floor of an attractive, modern, four-story building with a marbled entrance and an elevator. There is plenty of on street parking right outside the building. The apartment includes: lower floor - a large entryway, a large living-dining room, a well-equipped separate kitchen with laundry facilities, master bedroom with double bed, bathroom; upper floor - two bedrooms each with two beds, bathroom. The exterior side of the apartment consists almost entirely of windows, so it is very light and sunny with views of green fields and part of the village. There is a large, covered children's playground just up the street. The village has restaurants and several bars. There is a bank with an ATM machine, and shops include a pharmacy, a fishmonger, a bakery, and two small supermarkets. More restaurants and bars are to be found in other villages five minutes (or a walk along the beach) away, and there is a large supermarket and and a multitude of shops, bars and restaurants available in the beautiful, medieval town of Viveiro, only 15 mins. drive or train ride away.

BEACHES - Playas
a) There is a book in the apartment that shows aerial views of the whole coastline and there are hundreds of beaches to discover, but here is a list of the most obvious to go to from Vicedo…
b) Small coves right in Vicedo: go to the pier in Vicedo and on the other side you will find the most beautiful little cove beaches, perfect for kids or a quick dip, lovely sand, best at low tide
c) Long beach between Vicedo and Barqueiro – you can walk from one to the other in low tide, because there is a pedestrian pathway over the bridge for the last part, there’s a sign that says playa in Vicedo that takes you there, at the western edge of the village
d) Xilloi: very popular beach for reasons which will become obvious when you go there, sign posted from Vicedo, can walk there from the apartment in 15 minutes, great outdoor restaurant / bar where you can sit in the shade under vines.
e) San Roman (between Viveiro and Vicedo): sign posted from the main road, rockpools, amazing rock formations, sand, great place to eat and drink right on the beach
f) Esteiro, crashing waves ALL the time, surfing, sign posted from Barqueiro, turn right off the main road, wonderful plant life, walk along the river, cliffs
g) As Catedrais, this is in Asturias near the Galicia / Asturias border, but well worth the trip since it has amazing rock arches on the beach…something else! Recommend going on a week day so it’s less crowded in July or August.

a) Santiago de Compostela, for the day – a really wonderful experience, get an early start. There are a number of exits from the big road into the city, but entering the city from the north is recommended and should take you to a very convenient parking lot.
b) Explore the coastline and coastal villages and towns to the west – there are lots of wild horses near San Andrés Texeida, and the highest cliffs in all of Europe.
c) Be sure to go to Estaca de Bares...the lighthouse, the coast line up there...there is a great hotel which was the warning for boats before there was electricity and the lighthouse was built. It’s a good place for having coffee right up there in the middle of nowhere (but near the port of Bares) with incredible views...go to Barqueiro and turn right off the main road when you see the sign for Bares. You can have coffee or any meal there out on the terrace with a fabulous view of the ocean. By the lighthouse you can see the waves crashing on to the rocks below, and it’s just mesmerizing. One of my favorite things to do. Puerto de Bares also has a lovely beach – maybe this end of which is a nude beach? Not too sure about that.
d) Explore Viveiro, especially on a Thursday, which is market day, beautiful medieval center. There is a convent right at the top of the town (it’s on a hill) where you can get pies made by the nuns through a revolving door (they are cloistered and so you do not see anyone). Parking in Viveiro is only on and around the street that runs along the bottom of the town, parallel to the water (most of the town is pedestrian). There is a free parking lot next to the tourist office somewhat opposite the big supermarket, Gadis which I would recommend if you don’t find anything else.
e) Visit the wine areas of Ribeira Sacra or Ribeiro about two hours south. There is a brand new special train excursion from Viveiro I believe, that you can find out about at the tourist office in Viveiro or on the internet. The Ribeira Sacra is just STUNNING, and as a wine enthusiast myself, I highly recommend a visit. You can also drive, of course, but it would be best to check out winery visit possibilities on the internet beforehand.
f) The city of Oviedo…about two and a half hours away but perhaps on your way to or from Vicedo. A city with a really lovely old center that is just delightful to visit - great place for seafood and cider

Galicia is known for its wonderful seafood which is available in practically every single restaurant in the area!!

a) Good place to eat / have a drink / go in the evening – bar on the pier in O Vicedo. Also the pier at Barqueiro, across the bay... just drive west, cross the bridge over the river, then take the first turn to the right that says Puerto de Barqueiro (it's hard to see, go slowly up the hill after you cross the bridge) and follow the road all the way down to the pier, where there is parking. There are two great restaurants / bars there, one fancy and one simple. O Forno is the simpler, cheaper one. The other is more formal and has a great view.
b) Another good local restaurant is A Goleta (or something like that), a little further up the main road heading west from Vicedo, also in Barqueiro but right on the road, on the left hand side as you continue up the hill (past the right hand turn to the port) and there is also an Argentine barbeque place as you go further west on the road (not sure if it is before or just after you get out of Barqueiro).
c) Two restaurants at Xilloi beach are very good, and there is also a restaurant at San Roman beach and one I like a lot right on the road, on the beach side, just before you get to San Roman beach coming from Vicedo.

Market day in Viveiro is Thursday in the central square.

You can organize all of this on the pier in Barqueiro. They will rent equipment and also act as a guide for you if you want and take you down the river or out into the sea (I think) for not much money.

a) There is a big one in Viveiro, on the main road, right opposite Haley’s supermarket
b) There is a teeny one in Vicedo with good information, on the right hand side of the road as you are leaving the village going west towards Barqueiro…a wooden hut on the pavement, open shopping hours.
c) There is a binder in the apartment with maps, fliers, pamphlets etc. that you may find useful. Feel free to add any that you pick up along the way and would like to leave for others.

No smoking in the apartment.
No pets in the apartment.

We enjoyed the trip to O Vicedo, and Suisan's place was very nice. The apartment is clean, and has lots of space. It is as described, and we had no problems with communication. The overall area is really nice, but there is very little to do in O Vicedo. You should be prepared to drive to other locations (of which there are many great ones!).
