This is an extremely one-sided story unfortunately, I contacted Catherine, very soon after her booking and let her know that unit was not available due to unforeseen circumstances!
I offered an alternate place to stay so I did not ruin her plans of course providing photos and information. In Catherine's words, she said "looks perfect should be fine" as well as offering her a discount!
After we both agreed on these conditions Catherine message me a week before her arrival and told me due to the hurricane in the United States she was unable to make the dates asked if I had any other available dates, unfortunately, I did not.
And then ask me to cancel the her reservation.
canceling a reservation as a host costs $50 and would have a negative impact on my rating this is definitely something I did not want!
I told her I was extremely saddened for her travel issues but I would not cancel a reservation due to the negative impact it will have on me. After feeling sorry for Catherine I offer her a full refund! Stating once I receive the money from air bnb which I would receive after the Guest stays. Immediately once I received payment I sent her the total refund on my end! As well as try to E transfer her HER Service fees as I thought an E transfer would work for us! after that did not work I told her I would've my way to Make sure she got her Service fee back!
I honestly felt like I was going above and beyond for her!
This is a very unfortunate event I'm terribly sorry for the miscommunication at the beginning with her I do not feel I like I should be painted negatively.
Because of this I truly felt like I was doing the right thing as well as try to refund her completely!
