Om dette opslag
This 225 SF space includes one room plus bathroom and closet. The downside for some is that it is half underground, but this is an upside on hot indian summer days. It stays pleasantly cool in the room. All but one of the windows face the garden.
225 SF - the room works better for one person for longer stays. That is our preference.

I clean between renters, but not during your stay. Renters who stay longer than a week are responsible for periodic cleaning. I am happy to arrange weekly cleaning for you if you prefer. Just let me know.
I loved staying in the basement room here! The real highlight is the backyard garden that you enter through. Sarah was trialling a night time outdoor projector when I was there. It is such a lovely place to congregate in the evening really made my stay there. The room itself is small, but with decent light and nicely laid out and decorated. I would definitely book again if I needed a place local to stay. Sarah, John, and their daughter Willa were a real delight to meet.
I stayed in the garden room for a month and found it to be perfect for my needs! Sarah and John are incredibly warm and helpful hosts- they invited to me join them for dinner several times and were always inquiring if I needed anything. The room is more "home-y" than the pictures even, lots of light. Cute restaurants a few blocks away and a short walk from downtown Berkeley. Plenty of street parking. You can hear some soft noises of life above you at times, but it never bothered me, and Sarah and John graciously made sure the room above mine was vacated if I needed to be home during the day. I highly recommend this room!
I had a great experience at 1429 Channing Way. Sarah and John were great hosts, very friendly and helpful. I felt very much at home during my two week stay there. I had an early morning flight out on a Saturday from SFO. John woke up early in the morning to drop me at the MacArthur BART station before 6 AM and refused to take any money from me for the drop. They also let me use their washer and dryer, which were conveniently located from the room where I stayed. Overall, my experience was wonderful. I strongly recommend this place for anybody visiting Berkeley.
Sarah was a very helpful host, she helped us planning our trips. The place location was nice , it was very close to the bus station going to campus, however i hd a problem with the size of the room and spiders.
Stayed for a month at the garden room with my boyfriend. We both liked the place a lot; it was private and well equipped. The bathroom/shower was especially nice. It's also very convenient to have a microwave in the room and laundry on site. The neighbourhood was nice too. There are a couple convince stores, restaurants and cafes nearby. We got ourselves some second-hand bikes so it was super easy to get around town; it's about a 10-15 minutes bike ride to the campus .
Sarah was a great host. Though we didn't see her that much, only occasionally running into each other in the backyard, she was very responsive every time we needed something. At the beginning of our stay, I got very sick one evening and had to go to the ER, Sarah was very kind to drive us there, which I really appreciate.
The only possible downside about the room might be it's not very soundproof - it's right under the bedroom of their daughter little Willa, who's very cute and adorable, but can be quite active in the morning. There were earplugs provided in the room, which were very helpful. Thanks to that, the noise from above did not bother us too much on most days, but it's probably not the best place for light sleepers or people who like to sleep in.
All in all a very pleasant experience staying at Sarah's place, would recommend!
The host for this venue was wonderful--very thoughtful and responsive. I enjoyed the stay. The space was private, clean and had a fridge and microwave...very nice place.
Sarah was a gracious host. Everything "last minute" was provided: coffee, shampoo. The bed was comfortable and the access through the garage appreciated. Others have mentioned noise from above. It was there, but ordinary human noise and didn't bother us.
