Located on the magnificent Fightingtown Creek in Fannin County, Reel Creek Lodge is a rustic luxury cabin that is assured to provide you and your guests many wonderful memories for years to come. The cabin itself is a wonderful destination with the huge beams on the front porch and the monolithic rock slabs in the two enormous fireplaces. As the owners noted, "You won't find a fireplace with a bigger rock hearth that in our basement! The house was literally built around it!"
Once you arrive at the Reel Creek Lodge, you may decide to stay there for the entire time! No need to go into town. The lodge has it all! With three king beds and two queen beds, all sheeted with impeccable linens, you may decide to slumber late into the morning before padding into the gourmet kitchen for the first cup of coffee. From the kitchen you can take in all of the art that the owners have collected which was purchased locally as they support the local community. If you decide to have your coffee on the deck, you will notice the local and rare pine trees that on grow only in this area. The "backyard" is also home to an enormous Hemlock tree which has been identified as possibly the second largest in the State of Georgia. It is magnificent!
There is 700 feet of creek front right off the deck and this is prime trout fishing country, and our one ask in regard to fishing is that you practice catch and release so that this part of the river remains the fly caster's dream that it is. So, come on in, sit down and relax in front of the fireplace and let your worries melt away into the evening while the sounds and sights of nature fill your senses. As the owner's put it, you also "enjoy a glass of wine and listen to nature on the private screened porch of the main floor master bedroom."
The cabin is comfortably appointed with upscale linens, amazing furniture like the theatre viewing loungers and leather couches and chairs. In addition, you will find a kitchen with all of the appliances, pots, pans and cutlery you will need to prepare the meals of a lifetime. Nothing compares to creating a masterpiece in the kitchen and then sitting on the deck, beverage of your choice in hand, while the sounds of the river below keep you company.
The cabin is located within easy distance of many of the best attractions in North Georgia, and the cabin owners provided us with some of their favorites: There is the Swan Drive In theatre for a memorable night watching first run movies and eating fried Oreos, and fly fishing at Horseshoe Bend Park in McCaysville, the same location where Thursdays they have "Pickin' in the Park for free local and live music. Of course, there is also the mighty Toccoa River with all that it has to offer from tubing to whitewater rafting.
