I live a few miles away and check in with my guests via text, email and phone calls. The building houses four apartments and I stop by to check on garbage pickup, the garden in the front, and to deliver new soap, paper towels and toilet paper as needed. The apartment is well stocked when you arrive but I don't want to overcrowd the space so I keep lots of inventory of commonly asked for things at my own home. Just ask if you need anything. I probably have it.

This is second floor apartment. There are stairs. Hold on to the railing as you go up and down them. The building is 100 years old and the stairs are steep.
Please clean up after yourself in common areas ( kitchen and bath ). Treat my home with respect. Hang wet items in the bathroom or in the shower. Protect wood surfaces from water damage by using coasters on all furniture. Be respectful of your housemates needs for bathroom and sleep. Have a great day.

I'm originally from Indiana, and moved to NY when I was 7. I have been married to my husband, Tom ( a native New Yorker) , for 31 years and we have 4 grown children, and one grandchild. We both love meeting new people, reading, traveling, and hosting guests in our beautiful home. I am a retired NYC teacher, and a professional organizer ( SMART Organizing by Geri ) and my husband is a retired NYC firefighter who owns and manages a sign and awning business. (Mineola Awnings and Signs) I like to bake, take photographs, garden, read, and relax in the backyard with my children and grandchildren when they come home. My husband likes to garden, watch the Yankees, BBQ, and spend time with family and friends. We have a great relationship and we are each others' best friends. Our motto is "Find work that you like, and you'll never work a day in your life." and we are both fortunate in that we love our jobs. Another motto that we have live by is to "Live beneath your means." and that has served us very well over the years. We are easy-going but hard-working people and we take pleasure in our home and surroundings. We started hosting on airbnb in July 2013 to help pay for our daughter's wedding (in October 2014) and our son's college (he graduated in 2016) but we have loved the experience and meeting so many new people that we will continue hosting for many more years. As we begin to prepare for another daughter's wedding, the house and yard have been getting a complete facelift, fresh coats of paint, and some new furnishings. So, if the house looks a little different from the pictures when you get here, it's only a fresh coat of paint on the walls (more neutral tones) , or new furniture to replace the well worn and well loved pieces with more comfortable ones (the den now has a beautiful red sectional which is SOOOOO comfy) . We love our house, and you will too! If you rent one of our apartments, know that the same thoughtfulness and care go into choosing all the furnishing, decor, bedding, and linens. I want you to be comfortable and safe. If I ask you lots of questions during the inquiry stages, that's what keeps me, you, and my other guests safe so please be open minded and share what you can about yourselves during introductions. Thanks for considering me as your host. Have a great day.
