Palm Isle Retreat-Best AMI Beach/Spa/Firepit/Bikes/2 Kayaks/PaddleBoard/65inchTV
Best AMI Beach, Covered Deck, Spa, Firepit, Bikes, 2 Kayaks, 65in TV, 1660 sqft
Anna Maria Island is Florida's best kept secret: beautiful white beaches, older Florida charm, award winning restaurants, golf courses nearby, and pristine shopping all within easy walking and driving distance, or jump aboard the free 'Anna Maria Island Trolley', which stops 2 minutes from the home. The beach is white sugar sand and 7 miles long. The 81st St Beach is "the best beach on AMI" as it has a large area of shallow, clear blue water and sand that is truly incredible and the only location on AMI where surfing takes place during high surf periods. The area is known for its splendid sunsets.
This home has the best beaches (81st St Beach + White Avenue Beach) with the clearest water on a shallow sandbar all the way to the buoys! It really is amazing. Spend the day on the beach with a covered shelter next to Holmes Beach City Park, which is a simple, 4-minute walk or quick bike ride from the home, or hang out fishing in one of the many great spots nearby or in a boat on the Gulf of Mexico. Sightings along the Gulf of Mexico beach and inter-coastal waterway include Manatees, Rays, Dolphins, many kinds of fish, Tortoises, huge Pelicans, Blue Herons, Egrets, Osprey, Terns, Gulls, and other amazing creatures. Some people even get married at the beach and stay in the home with family! Common sites along the beach areas include Sea Turtle nests and bird nesting sanctuaries during special times of the year.
The Palm Isle Retreat is an oasis of an island within a sea of Palm Trees and other flora that is really amazing.
While the beach on the Gulf of Mexico is 7 miles of uninterrupted sand with very few people next to our home, if you want crowds of people at the public beaches, you can go south to Coquina Beach at the south end of Bradenton Beach and Anna Maria Island, or to Manatee County Beach at the west end of Manatee Avenue in Holmes Beach, or to Anna Maria Pier at the east end of Pine Avenue for the intercoastal/Tampa Bay access. Anna Maria Pier is a special place where many times you can see fish, rays, dolphins, and manatees swimming underneath you as well as fish from the dock and have a nice meal or an ice cream cone at Two Scoops Ice Cream Shop.
The City Park, an easy walk or bike ride, is an open park area to play Frisbee or football.
After enjoying the beach or park, you can use the hose right next to the front door to wipe the beach sand off before relaxing in the spa / hot tub or sitting on the beautiful deck patio. You can enjoy the spa / hot tub or sit on with Adirondack-style chairs around the palm trees. If you're in the mood to tour around the rest of the island, catch the free trolley out the back door and it will take you to any of the beaches, restaurants, shops or grocery stores along Gulf Drive anywhere on Anna Maria Island. Take the trolley one stop down (or stroll along the beach the one mile) to the Village of Anna Maria on Pine Avenue, Holmes Beach, or the old historic Bridge Street area of Bradenton Beach to enjoy the Key West style restaurants and shops. If you enjoy painting or photography, the sunsets are among the best in the world.
Soft grass and fine dirt/sand in the yard is easy on the feet as well as various palm trees of different sizes that increase your privacy including Areca Palms, Cabbage Palms, Queen Palms, and Palmetto Palms. A Frangipani/Plumeria tree creates beautiful large flower blossom clusters usually in May or June, which smell ideal and are the basis for Hawaiian leas.

Our home is much easier to navigate than 3-story duplexes on Anna Maria Island because our first floor is on the ground level and the second floor is an easy split level. Other homes on the island tend to require climbing multiple flights of stairs up or taking elevators because their homes begin on the second floor and go up to the third floor.

About Rex & Michele Geissler
Growing up in Florida, I enjoyed the best of the beaches. It was always a special time to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet with family and friends. I had heard about the beaches south of Tampa where I grew up but did not experience them until I was an adult when I went to Anna Maria Island and Casey Key with my family. We fell in love with the area. And since my husband Rex is from Colorado and we live on a mountain property named Quartz Mountain Ranch, the island beach gives us an incredible contrast to the mountains.
