Historic Leclaire, Iowa is full of quaint shops, antiques, and variety of restaurants. Walking distance (only 175 steps to the Green Tree Brewery), Mississippi River Distillery, Wide River Winery, and the History Channel's ..the American Pickers.
Situated on the Mighty Mississippi, the Old Mill Guest House (the lower level of the building), contains all the historic charm of the town it resides in.
Our "cabin-like" rental, although a two bedroom, is 600 sq. ft. - so with four adults it IS cozy. (We've had as many as 6 stay, but we would not recommend that many.) With two couples, I would make sure you like the other couple, in fact, it can actually add to the charm!
Each bedroom has a locking door as well as the bathroom, but it is not a spacious home! A massage therapist and Chiropractor are available during the day on the main floor. Appointments may be necessary, but Dawn and Dr. Chrystal would be happy to schedule your session.

Parking is on the main street, with a limestone block sidewalk that winds down the side of the house to back side facing the river. There are about a half dozen easy and low steps that lead down to the entrance. The 22 - inch thick original limestone walls make this a VERY quiet stay.....even with the busy street out front. Because LeClaire is a typical rivertown, one has to contend with railroad - fair warning, you WILL have an occasional train that runs the tracks between the house and the river, not extremely bothering unless outside. Even then, they are quick to pass.....for the train lover, this will be a PLUS. But nowhere in town is immune to the passing of the trains.

Andre ting, der er værd at bemærke
In the kitchen, we have a sink, small refrigerator, coffee and coffee maker, microwave, and a toaster oven. If it's movie night (with several complimentary HBO channels available), we have microwave popcorn to enjoy in front of the cozy fireplace (electric). We also supply most toiletries - soap, shampoo, hairdryer, toilet paper, kleenex, paper towels, etc. In the bedroom closet you'll have an iron and board for any last minute touch - ups. Also, an umbrella for rainy days, and binoculars for bird or boat watching. We also have a gas bbq grill on the patio for use if you are inclined to have a cookout.
Absolutely no smoking or pets in the guest house.
Deb and I love the atmosphere of the Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee. We love history and especially the history of the river. We also love antiques, flea markets, and hunting for the perfect and unusual antique for our quaint, small town antique shop in historic Leclaire, Iowa. When we purchased another property in town, an historic property which is on the national registery, we had in mind to restore the unused lower level, a perfect little cabin-like getaway for everyone to enjoy. For the guests, it is a nostalgic "step-back-in-time", reliving the days of the Mississippi riverboat men of old. We hope you enjoy our cozy and rustic rental. We'll do our best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
