Pladsen

Grenadines Islands are a genuine "must visit" destination, untouched by mass tourism and often referred to as the "jewels of the Caribbean".

Immerse yourself in the pristine tropical beauty of Palm Island, a remote island hideaway. Palm is a small private and exclusive island (you can walk around it in 30 minutes) with a hotel and a few privately owned villas. It is the ideal vacation spot for friends or families with children, looking for privacy and tranquillity.
Prune House is surrounded by a spectacular beach and coconut trees. It is a real beach house (litterally 15 meters from the water) with a living room and dining room opened on the garden, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. The villa CAN welcome 4 people. The villa is simply furnished but comfortable and perfect for nature lovers.

Activities
Snorkeling in front of the villa and around the island.
Diving and Kite Surfing in Union Island (ideal spot for kite surfing with a dedicated school in Union).
Visit of neighbouring islands with our local taxi boat : famous Tobago Cays natural park (swim with turtles), Mustique, Morpion (a dollop of sand), Canouan, Petit Saint Vincent (have lunch on the beach restaurant and eat delicious lobsters).
Enjoy a superb day of sailing in the exquisite grenadines islands.
Union Island tour in the open-backed taxi vans.

From France : fly to Fort de France and take a connection to Union Island.
From the UK and the USA : fly to Barbados, Sainte Lucia or Trinidad and take a 30 minutes connection to Union Island.

Our housekeeper will take care of you during your stay in Prune House : open the villa before your arrival and close it after your departure (fees payed bu the owner for opening and closing).

It is mandatory to take the housekeeper during your stay so that she can take care of the villa everyday (fees for the housekeeper during your stay are to be payed directly by you to the housekeeper). She can as well delicious local meals (fishes, lobsters...).

Arrivals : the housekeeper can welcome you in the villa from monday to saturdays, from 10am to 4pm. If you plan to arrive any other time, we will provide you a map so that you can find the villa.

French-living Anne Claire sent us plenty of information prior to our visit, but the houskeeper did not know of our arrival until the day before so the house was not ready when we got there. No worries, we hung around and enjoyed the beautiful views. The house is VERY basic which is not a problem to us, having camped, back-packed and sailed, but it does not live up to the concept of a "private villa". It was rather charming with closet doors coming of their hinges, unfunctioning lamps and rain blowing in through empty windowframes (the outdoor livingroom), and we were happy with it as a high-standard tent rather than a bungalow. More distracting is the island itself where non-resort-guests are not allowed to move around freely, or have dinner at the resort's restaurant. The Sunset Bar offers (truly expensive) lunch also to "visitors", and great drinks at sunset, but no vibe. Our family of four well-travelled adults felt more at ease on bustling Union Island (where Palm Island is called Alcatraz), but recommend Prune House if you truly want to get away from it all!

The Prune House on Palm island is an amazing place on many levels. First off, it is relatively hard to get to... which essentially means it is beautifully secluded and feels very private. We saw few other people on a day to day basis, which is what we were hoping for... to feel like we were part of a tiny island community. We had an entire beach to ourselves most of the time. The trip there, though it takes time, is amazing... flying in little planes low over the islands, then water taxi across a channel to the Palm island dock. The house is fantastic, beautifully designed with outdoor space and indoor space completely overlapping. It is very open, meaning whatever exists naturally...breeze, hummingbirds, hermit crabs, geckos and mosquitos are all free to come and go. We personally enjoyed this rustic, beach pavilion vibe, but one should be aware of this if you're looking for an air-conditioned, glass enclosed box... There are a few details of the house that could use some attention, but I imagine it's hard to maintain something so close to the salt water. We had coffee every morning looking out over the beach, The housekeeper, who was amazing and very helpful allowed me to borrow a machete to access the abundant coconut crop growing all around the house... We only wore shoes once in 7 days (that was for cocktail hour at the Palm Island resort). This is really the perfect place for a few people who have an adventurous taste in travel, who enjoy being off the beaten path, and who are willing to trade a bit of travel time to get away from it all. It is also perfect, in that we were able to use the tiny store, the bar and the restaurant of the Palm Island resort, and I'm pretty sure we could have accessed other services of theirs for a fee, even though we were not staying there... We chose to bring our own food and cook, which was fun and easy enough because we didn't have much else to do, but one could also have meals at the resort, or hire the housekeeper to cook. This is one aspect that requires a bit of prior planning if you do plan to cook for yourself. It is a bit tough to get things on Union (pretty expensive and limited options) We packed the basics and purchased some produce, and it worked out fine. Our host was great, in getting us all the information we needed, and getting us situated with travel advice and necessary contacts... the only bummer was that we did not get to meet her in person... I have not even gotten to the good parts... Iguana trail, sharks, eels, turtles, rays, a million types of fish, all within reach of shore... but I've run out of space. A beautiful, simple, rustic, secluded place to truly relax. I hope to return in the future.!

We had a truly fabulous time at prune house. After a bit of a challenge getting there, it all worked out well. Be careful if you plan to take the ferry from any island to union island. It doesn't run everyday (as we thought) nor is it terribly reliable when it does. Transfers aside, Marie was lovely to work with and we'll certainly be back!

We just returned from an amazing stay on Palm Island! The villa came as advertised, as did the views... Anne Claire was extremely responsive and helpful prior to our trip in answering questions and providing all necessary information regarding travel, the island, and the house. There is a housekeeper available to open and close the villa, and will check in daily. She is available to prepare meals at an additional fee if of interest. This is the first vacation where we didn't eat out once...we obtained groceries and drinking/cooking water on nearby Union Island prepared simple meals daily at the house. Selection is very limited at the local market, and groceries can be delivered (depending on day of the week) from St. Vincent. The only thing to mention regarding the listing is that the villa is rustic in every sense of the word...which was what we happened to be looking for. If you are seeking modern amenities, you may want to search for other properties. For us, we found the escape and tranquility that we were looking for and enjoyed the charm of staying in an open villa. Snorkeling in Tobago Cays is a must. There are several other day trips that are accessible either on Palm or Union Island. We purchased an international plan for our U.S. based phone, but were not able to receive any service (which was not a huge problem anyhow). Weather systems seem to move in and out quickly. We experienced quite a bit of wind, but likely helped keeping the sand flies and mosquitos away. Our only complaint is that we didn't have more time...thanks again to Anne Claire!
