This is my little bit of magic in the country. If dog and cat hair, hay under your feet, the sound of trains, barking dogs, and roosters crowing is not a fair exchange experiencing the beauty of nature, my place may not be for you.
As a teacher, I work about 50 hours a week and bring work home on top of that. I do not spend all my free time cleaning and organizing, and there are always crafts and painting projects in progress. I try to keep the guest room immaculate, and the bathroom is sanitized every day. But the dogs and cats have the run of the house. As I have said earlier, it’s not for everyone. If you want to take your shoes off and you want your socks to stay white, you would be happier somewhere else. I do this in order to have activity in the house, as I am a (URL HIDDEN) I won’t be insulted if you change your mind after you read this.

I'm a school teacher who moved here from the east coast to be closer to my daughter, a true Portland. Since I haven't been here long and I work full time, it is a work in progress. I am happy to say the fruit trees and my laying hens are doing well.My home is cozy and inviting, very laid back, eclectic, and calm and peaceful...with a touch of the old hippie in me.
I have traveled cross country three times by car, and I have visited several other countries. I listen to classic rock and folk rock. I hope to have lots of guests from different locales, and look forward to listening to your stories, and telling you mine if you are so inclined. I can also completely leave you alone to re-charge your batteries. You are welcome to sit in the sunshine or shade outside, and to walk down to the river to feel the breeze. Kelso is close to Astoria, OR and Long Beach, WA, and we are also quite close to Mt. St. Helen's and not far from the other mountains. Portland city limits are about 40 minutes from here by car. Kelso/Longview has its own fun events. Pow-Wows, an annual squirrel fest, Saturday farmer's market, Thursday night concerts at Lake Sacajawea in the summer, plays and concerts, and lots of antique shops and cafes.
